Her intuition was as sharp as always. Mars wasn't too surprised at this point that she had managed to narrow it down as fast as she did.
"You're more or less right. Its nothing worth getting worked up over."
That's right. This ability of his was not particularly useful in scope or function. All it showed, and all it had showed for the past several years was the same, repetitive image of impending destruction.
It was no precognition in reality. Mars had as little idea of Sasha's future as he did his own. It was just the twisted ability of a trained killer to see death at a whim.
...It was hard to put into words, he realized. A few seconds of silence trickled past them as Mars fought to find his speech. In the end, it was probably best that he kept it short, simple and practical.
"I can't activate it at will, nor can I really choose what to see. I probably couldn't tell you what will happen to us tomorrow, or a year from now unless..." His words trailed off, glancing at the detective with his cat-like eyes and gesturing over meaningfully to the downed tree.

The idea of a "perfect analysis" existed among SEEKER's people. The theory was that if a machine could be programmed to analyze every detail down to their most minimal fractions, it would be possible to predict the outcome of the future with one hundred percent accuracy. The idea was as unfeasible as they come. All the magitech in the world couldn't produce those kinds of results. It was impossible.
This human was impossible.
He tried not to think about it too much. He had seen a number of things as of late that he never imagined he would. He had to take things like this in stride, otherwise he'd spend the rest of his existence in a constant state of debilitating awe. He reorganized his thoughts, turning his focus back to what was important.
"What you are or aren't capable of is irrelevant. The only thing that matters to me right now is the fact that you were in severe pain. Does your ability have anything to do with that?"

Sasha heard the mechanical insides of Seeker's body working harder after hearing Mars's explanation. The robot must have been thinking very hard about it. Or was nervous about something perhaps. A brief spike of frustration rose in the detective's mind as she realized she had no idea how to read Seeker like she did others. She had never encountered something like him before. This didn't really help with her natural way of being suspicious of others.
Social interaction where she didn't have the ability to know when someone was nervous or lying. It was an old feeling that had nearly been forgotten, and Sasha wasn't very happy to meet up with it again.
Seeker's concern for Mars's wellbeing did make her think of something else she wanted to ask.
"To coincide with what Seeker said." The detective started, briefly looking at the robot. "How does getting these visions feel? Do they cause simple discomfort or do they have the potential to actually injure you? One's obviously more alarming than the other."
If these uncontrollable visions were capable of actually harming the mercenary...then that was bad. In multiple ways. It made him a ticking time bomb, opening the possibility of him randomly getting such an intense vision that it would completely disable him or even kill him. It made him a liability, turning him into an ally that could potentially go down at any moment from something that wasn't an enemy attack.
Sasha did her best to keep her face from reflecting the many thoughts flying through her mind.

"A bad dream can't actually kill you."
The answer came out almost immediately, with none of the mercenary's usual deliberation over his words. Staring at his two companions with gleaming crimson eyes, his expression conveyed total conviction in his words.
Even if Mars wasn't aware of it, the answer was both correct and yet not quite. It was true that his precognition couldn't physically hurt him or incapacitate him. But no person was meant to stare at those types of visions and emerge completely unscathed. Any ordinary mind would break before long.
Unless they truly believed with every inch of their being, those words.
A bad dream can't kill you.
He was still here. He was still alive.
Like a mantra, repeating those words and phrases without fail. It might have been the only thing tethering the mercenary in place after seeing events beyond his comprehension.
"...Just happened to be a little worse than usual." Mars continued, muttering quietly as he mulled over what he had just seen. Pausing before his next words, he suddenly realized that this would be one of the first times he went into detail over a vision. Rare was the person who actually knew about his precognition abilities, and even rarer was the event that Mars felt compelled to speak aloud about it.
Mars took a deep breath, painting the image of a woman with a flower in her skull in his mind. Then he spoke of Midnight Rose.

Midnight Rose. Nightshade. SEEKER wished he could provide Mars with answers regarding to what it was. The only thing he knew was already obvious to the entire group. Whatever the Midnight Rose was, it wasn't benevolent.
"Take however long you need to recover. I'll take care of everything else until you're ready to continue."
SEEKER gave him a somewhat awkward, mechanical nod of his half-cylindrical head in order to assure Mars that he had everything under control. For now, the best thing he could do was make himself useful in any minor ways he could manage. He began by stoking the campfire, and then moved up from there. He needed to prove to them that he was an asset. He needed to prove that they could depend on him.
Most importantly, SEEKER needed to do whatever he could to ease the humans' struggle. Doing anything less was unnacceptable. He couldn't afford to fail.
Not again. Not this time.
