"YES!!!" Peppermint jumped up and down in her pink and white blouse and skirt after she placed her final pair of cards down. "I won! If I beat you 37 mores times, I'll be in the lead!" Winter continued to watch the news as Peppermint and Nebula played card games. Amura continued to recover on his bed, and he was going to let her rest for as long as she needed. He could pull out the couch when night fell. After a while, an amusing story came up on the news.
"...And now we'll take you to Ground Zero with Yuu Washok."
"Thanks Jelaal. As you can see around me, the roads are littered with ruined biomechanical drones. What was once a terrible infestation has been whittled down to almost nothing. Plenty of strong citizens helped to eliminate the abundant monsters, although one man in particular is worth noting. Through out the last two days, this masked man with a saw-like sword has been seen destroying these horrible weapons. When we asked witnesses, they said that he called himself "Raiga no Kyuu." This isn't the first time this name has arisen. For those who remember the eerily recent and similar Delphinus Blitzkrieg, it was a "Raiga no Kyuu" who lead the aren refugees to Edge City."
"If you go back a few thousand years, or even further, you can find-" Winter got up and walked out of the room. It was about time to change Amura's bandages. As he unwrapped them, he could visibly watch her flesh heal. He knew she was a demon, and would heal fine, but he still couldn't completely shake the fear he felt when he had seen her bleeding so profusely. After applying new bandages, he rubbed her cheek with his thumb before entering the living room again.
"...I find it hard to believe that a human, super or otherwise, could live over ten thousand years."
"Maybe there's more than one. Maybe if one dies, another takes the mantle."
"Well, whoever he or they are, we certainly appreciate his work, as well as everyone else who has put their life on the line to help save the few survivors of this awful catastrophe." Winter couldn't help but be amused by what little they had on that old relic of a man. Though, he imagined he would have known almost as little had he not been close to Grimlocke. He muted his television as he turned his attention to Nebula.
"How does your arm feel, Nebula? Have you managed to reconnect with Devoid?"

Nebula blinked in surprise... the little outdated android had actually managed to beat her... then again, she had remained unpredictable during the last several games; Nebula had heard that odd effects like that would manifest on androids that were disconnected from the network too long.
"How does your arm feel, Nebula? Have you managed to reconnect with Devoid?"
The android girl blinked at Winter once, and looked at her arm; the nanites were properly going their job, and almost everything on her arm had been rebuilt over the course of several hours. Her artifical nerves were regaining feeling as well... but the second matter was more troubling. And really, she didn't trust any of them entirely yet. As soon as the nanites repaired her thrusters, she was gone... but until then...
"No. Something is blocking any sort of wireless connection. Those reporters are using old wired connections. Its the only reason they're getting through. Something happened to the atmosphere of Grand Divide after the Ileris detonated." And again, there was more she wasn't telling them. The land within and around Grand Divide... was losings its fertility because of the strange blue haze covering the city. Becoming dry. Almost all the plants were dying that she had seen. She hadn't been aware that the Ileris had that sort of cargo...

Amura opened one eye as Winter turned to leave the room. She said nothing and merely stared at the ceiling. Her mind was trying to put together everything that had happened...
Shaking. Explosions. Screams. The Ileris, an enormously powerful ship of Devoid, had attacked Grand Divide for reasons unknown. An image of Winter, his body tense and a worried expression on his face, entered her mind.
"That's right...he was keeping track of McKensey. Trying to see how she was doing."
Images of Grand Divide below her came next. Followed by mechanical abominations attacking her. Ripping out a chunk of her right thigh and neck. Amura slowly raised an arm to her neck, feeling that all the missing flesh had returned, but was tender and painful. She then felt her thigh next, seeing it was in the same condition as her neck. She just needed to rest more.
However, Amura's eyes both opened suddenly, widening as she remembered one last thing.
"McKensey..."
She placed a hand on her face, her heart sinking as she remembered her friend was dead. She was unable to save her.
"I couldn't help. I couldn't do anything...I failed her. I'm sorry, McKensey. I'm so sorry...please forgive me."

Peppermint smiled brightly at Nebula's surprised expression. "Don't be shocked~. I'm an old model, but I'm refurbished and customized! And Winter's the best!" After listening to Nebula's answer, Winter thought to himself.
"I suppose the haze is also what's killing all of the plants."
"The plants are dying?"
"Yes, Peppermint."
"Aaaaaaw... You see, Winter has this super power," the little android said. "It let's him keep track of AAAAALL life on Kyril."
"It's not as great as she makes it sound, I assure you," Mr. Green spoke as he was about to leave with a bottle of whiskey in his hand.
"Where are you going?"
"I have one last errand to run. Peppermint, behave yourself around Nebula."
"Alright. Hey! Do you wanna try some clothes on? They're in our room with Amu Amu, so we'll have to be really quiet and pick out some stuff to try on and then leave Amu alone."

Nebula shifted uncomfortably; she didn't like what was going on to be perfectly honest. At the very least, she was suspicious of Winter's intentions., and his plans. And... a power that let him see all life on Kyril? Surely, such a thing wasn't possible.
"... Uhm... " And she also had a small debt to the demon girl, that succubus Amura, "...n-no. I'd rather not disturb her. Though..." A though crossed her mind. There was something important she'd been meaning to do, but hadn't had the time to do so.
"... w-well. I do need to thank her for rescuing me, so... why not?" Nebula got up, nodding to Peppermint.

"Alright," Peppermint cheered. "Let's just be reeeeally quiet first." She walked to the door and slowly opened it.
"Amuuu?" She peeked in and looked around the room to find Amura awake, and her battery skipped an amp, so to speak.
"Amu!" She quickly covered her mouth, realizing how loud she was. "Amu!" She quickly hopped over to the succubus and smiled down at her. "You're awake! How are you? Nebula wanted to see you, too!"

Amura forced her saddened expression into a more neutral one before turning to face the small android. She smiled lightly when she saw how cheerful Peppermint was. It seemed her positive attitude was a bit infectious.
The succubus found it a little difficult to speak since the flesh of her neck still wasn't completely healed. She did her best to sound natural though. "Peppermint...I'm alive. That's good enough for now, right? Ah and...Nebula? The android I met earlier? Is she all right?"

".... Ah, yes... uhm... well, thank you for rescuing me and getting me out of there. I know you didn't have to, and I just wanted to say that means alot to me." Nebula looked away; this person was a demon. She was told demons were horrible, evil beings, monsters who preyed on humans, and were worse than any of the other races. Any part of her that was programmed scream at her to kill this woman, right here and there, while she was vulnerable, and not essential to Nebula's survival. And yet she ignored this parts of her mind. It was just another thing she had witnessed that was so wrong about Devoid... she hardly looked that different from a human.
".... " Nebula shifted uncomfortably; she was trying so hard to figure out what it was, at this moment, that made humans hate demons so much.

Peppermint hugged Amura, happy that she was fine. "Of course you're alive! You were one of the best in the Corps!" She nuzzled Amura's face with her own. "...If Amu Amu couldn't save Kensey, nobody could have." She stood up and looked down at Amu with a pained expression. Her mouth smile, but her eyes looked as if they were trying to hold back tears. Tears that Peppermint knew she couldn't make. "Nebula wanted to try on some of my clothes. Since you're awake, we'll stay right here, and keep you company!" Peppermint then walked over to her dresser, and started pulling drawers out. Apparently Winter had a habit of spoiling Peppermint, because she had lots of clothes, of numerous styles. She seemed particularly fond of skirts and... lingerie. What was odd was that there was one drawer that Peppermint hadn't removed from the dresser.
"What do you want to try on first?" the red haired android beamed at her.

Amura raised an eyebrow at Nebula. "You destroyed that ship. If it was still here, we might have all been killed by now. I should be thanking you. So I shall. Thank you, Nebula."
The succubus' eyes widened at Peppermint. Had she been that transparent? Possibly...although she could have just figured she was still upset about failing to save McKensey. Anyone would be.
"...Thank you, Peppermint. I appreciate having you two as company as well."

Nebula laughed nervously; this situation was not one she was accustomed to at all.
"Ah, uh... I-I don't know... er, well, I mean, I..." Almost hilariously, her cheeks were burning up. To control mana, her body had to be both somewhat similar to a human's, and still be an android. But to give her the capability to blush... well, that was pretty questionable.
Her frame was small as well... but it was nowhere near as small as Peppermint's. She doubted she could fit in most of it, if not any of it.

Peppermint quickly scanned and recorded Nebula's dimensions, and pulled up all of the clothes she had in her memory. There wasn't too much that would fit around Nebula's bulky arms and legs, though that didn't mean that all options were eliminated.
"I know, I have some things that you can wear!" Peppermint cheered. She began digging through her drawers until she found something. Peppermint then quickly worked around Nebula, and Nebula soon found pieces of fabric covering her. A black and frilly wrap-around A-cup covered her chest while matching side-tied panties covered her pelvis.
"Aaaah! It fits you so well! You look even prettier now!" The red haired and eyed android smiled with glee as she looked Nebula over. "Amu Amu! Success!"

Amura laughed quietly at the spectacle. The sight of Peppermint's joy playing around with Nebula brought a smile to the demon's beautiful, but tired, face. She noticed the Devoid android was blushing. That was rather peculiar. Why did her designer feel the need to give her such a human function like blushing?
Actually, why not do that? Amura knew from her experiences with Peppermint that a synthetic life, like an android, could be just as human as an actual organic person.
"Haha...my, my, she does look rather tempting now. A shame she's not organic and is unable to satisfy me." The succubus said this with a smile and laughed afterwards, showing she was merely joking

"Er.... ehehe... this is a little... new to me." Nebula laughed nervously at Amura.... how was this fun, again? The prototype android looked at the undergarments and shook her head; why on earth did the little android want her to wear these in the first place.
"Haha...my, my, she does look rather tempting now. A shame she's not organic and is unable to satisfy me."
"Satisfy... you...?" Nebula cocked her head to the side for a moment, before she worked it out via her databases. Oh. That. Well, that sent chills up and down her artificial spine.
"Ha... haaa... uhm, yeah, damn shame isn't it?"

"Don't listen to Amu Amu, Nebu. She's a big, big meanie tease sometimes," Peppermint jeered as she ran through the next set of clothes she could round up for Nebula to wear. "So what is it living in Devoid? Who do you live with, and what's it like? My brain was broken before Winter fixed me, so I don't remember what Devoid is like, or being connected to other androids. But I can hack those who are, and feel what it's like that way." Peppermint picked out a white corset and a frilly pink skirt.
"Try these on!"
Grand Divide Ruins
Winter walked through the ruined streets of his home, carrying a shovel and a bottle of whiskey. Bodies of all kinds were strewn apart the once beautiful and dutifully maintained city. Humans, beastkin, aves, lamia, and even those biodrones, and as if it wasn't enough, the plants were slowly dying. It was curious, he thought, that seeing these monsters in such horrid conditions made him almost pity them for stumbling across whatever it was that killed them, and he had a vague idea of which ones were killed by a particular someone. After a great deal of time, he finally came to his destination. Behind a burned out car was a fallen, modern cowgirl. The greastest huntress, and his dearest friend. He took a deep breath as he gazed upon McKensey's corpse. Her face was fixed in a soft smile. She had died smiling. Winter walked over to her, and slumped against the burned car, next to her. He lazily swatted flies away from her body.
"...Your smile was always so uplifting," he finally spoke to her shell. He took a swig of the whiskey after opening the bottle, wincing from the strength of it. "...And I am happy, in a way. This was a fitting death for you, much better than what time had in store. Still, I wish I could have spent a little more time with you. You were always lonelier than you allowed yourself to appear." Winter tilted her head back as he opened her mouth, and poured a little whiskey down her throat. "I'm sorry that I wasn't there to keep you company, as you fought for your life, and the life of your son. It seems that I am a terrible hypocrite." Though her mouth didn't return to the smile she had before, her slightly opened mouth made her look so peaceful, sleeping soundly. If only she wasn't so pale, and cold...
"...I should have brought a blanket," he said as he took another sip of whiskey. "Or at least a jacket." He tilted her head back again, and poured a some more whiskey down her throat. She still seemed so peaceful. Winter slipped the shaft of the shovel he brought through a belt loop on his pants, and then pocketed the bottle of whiskey. He then lifted McKensey up and into his arms, resting her head against his shoulder. "...I really should have brought a blanket for you. Heh, it's been a long time since you've seen me so unprepared, hasn't it. I guess I should find one..." Winter walked into the nearest house. The door was in pieces, and as he walked inside, the walls were wrecked, and smeared with blood in places. The stairs were cracked and splintered, as if something very heavy charged up and down in it. He entered a room, and ignored the half eaten corpse of a woman. He laid McKensey down on the bed in the room, before he stood up, looking at her.
"...You're right. I should at least look for a spare blanket." Winter rummaged through the closet in the room, and after finding a blanket, he placed it over the corpse on the floor. He returned to McKensey, and wrapped her in the blanket he had placed her on, leaving her head exposed. He then walked down the stairs, and out the door. He knew where he needed to go next...
"...You know, there was a time when I dreamed of carrying you like this. Except our friends were there, and we were dressed in white. I never would have thought that it would be under these circumstances." Winter took a deep breath as he fought back tears. "Heheh, to think after I let that dream go so many years ago, it would be fulfilled in such a manner. I should have known better, though. God grants our wishes, but they never turn out the way we want them to." After a long, painful walk, Winter came to the cemetery in the west sector of the central region. The cemetery reserved for veterans and heroes. He picked a spot away from all the others, and laid McKensey on the ground, unwrapping her just so he could place the bottle of whiskey in the blanket with her. He cradled her head as he knelt down, rubbing her cold face and hair for a few seconds before wrapping her completely in the blanket. Winter then began to dig, digging a grave for his beloved comrade and partner. He couldn't stop himself. He had thought that he had cried enough before attempting this, but as it turned out the pain was still too deep. He had to stop to let the memories pass a bit before he continued. When he had dug past the length of the shovel, he hopped out to retrieve McKensey. He took his one last chance to hug her and placed her in the bottom of the hole. After saying his good byes, he buried her, dumping scoop after scoop of dirt on top of her. When he was finished, he cut the shovel's shaft, and then wrapped his belt around the two pieces so that they were in that cross shape she had always carried around with her. She had explained its significance to him, and he did not forget. Winter then walked back towards his home. Part of his heart told him to sprint back at a speed only an aren had, but he didn't. He walked home, taking the time to reminisce on all of his memories of her. Though he ignored his urge to run, he did however allow himself to howl a single cry out into the empty streets, his pain echoing across the ruined buildings.
