Central Chamber
Amuzi could not stop herself from smiling as she watched and listened to all her warriors' words of support. This whole situation was incredible and the sorceress had found it difficult to maintain any semblance of hope sometimes. But what she saw before her...it filled her with a brilliant warmth. It filled her with hope. Realistic hope. Not hope built from blind optimism, but hope built from the very real possibility that this could truly work.
For the briefest of moments, she longed for the man that used to stand by her side. The man who was her lifetime partner before the demise of her reality and before her complete change in personality and abilities. Would he be proud of her?
Amuzi pushed these thoughts aside and nodded thankfully at her warriors.
"Thank you. It fills my heart with hope knowing that so many of you are willing to stay and fight. Now, onto business..."
She raised an arm.
"You will all be given your assignments shortly. Some of your groups may need to leave some members behind, depending on your task. Those of you who remain will be brought back here shortly."
And with that, she snapped her fingers. The room was filled with a warm white light and every single person felt as if they were floating. Each of the groups soon found themselves in a smaller room, with a lone swirling mass of energy in front of them. For each group there was someone different standing next to it.
Portal Chamber
Carl, Suna, and Yarashii found themselves, along with the rest of their group, standing in a different room. The room was circular and the floor was made of dark blue marble. White lights surrounded the walls and the swirling mass of energy before them was a mix of blue and white, and a mix of red and black. The two colors looked as if they were clashing with one another, warring against each other and fighting for dominance.
However, there was a man standing in front of this energy, blocking the group's entry to it. He was somewhat tall, perhaps a little above six feet, and had a rather round egg-shaped body. He wore a red jacket with gold buckles on the front, black pants and boots, and white gloves. He had a large orange mustache, blue tinted glasses, and gray goggles strapped at the top of his head. He folded his arms and studied the group for a moment.
"Ha, it's about time that girl finished her speech! We have a lot of work to do after all."
Carl and Suna silently shared a glance, unsure of what to think of this odd man. The feline swordsman, however, stepped forward. From what the man just said, it was obvious he was an ally. The purpose of his presence was unknown, though.
"Who are you? What are you doing here?" Yarashii's tone held no hostility, but her body was tensed and her right hand hovered near her blade's sheath. The scientist in front of her simply laughed, as if hearing a hilarious joke.
"Hahaha! I see that woman still hasn't picked up the habit of telling everyone all the details has she? Anyways, I am the great Doctor Robotnik! The greatest scientific mind of my world! I am here to tell you all about your mission. However, there's one little detail that needs tending to first..."
He sighed.
"Your group is far too large for this. You'd end up drawing too much attention to yourselves... Some of you are going to have to stay behind. I hope Amuzi at least told you all that much."
The doctor flicked his wrist, as if swatting away the whole problem.
"I'll let you all figure it out amongst yourselves as for who will stay behind."
Carl's eye twitched. This was actually rather annoying for him. How were they supposed to figure out who to bring along if they did not know anything about this new world? He was about to voice this thought but was stopped by Yarashii's sudden decision.
"I'll stay behind."
She turned to look at the group. "It's better for any of you to go since you're all at top condition. I feel fine, but I wouldn't want to risk the chance of me becoming a liability if any of my injuries were to act up..."

Before Yu could react to Yarashii's decision, Yukari spoke up.
"Marisa and I will stay behind, in that case." The black and white clad witch's jaw dropped, looking to the rest of the group, and then back at the rest of the group, including Doctor Robotnik, then back at the elder youkai.
"But... what the hell, ze!? You can't just-" Marisa was promptly silenced, as a gap opened and closed around her in a heartbeat. Yukari smiled, glancing at Yu.
"It is alright. I will still be watching, after all. I may not be able to help directly, but I can at least make sure some of the missing persons from my world aren't in the one you're visiting." Yu nodded quietly, as Yukari continued, "Anyways, I still have business to attend to here, as well. Farewell for now, heroes. And Kazuya." Yu forced himself to stifled a choked laugh, while Jade chuckled, Yukari disappearing through one of her own gaps, with a playful wink in the martial artist's direction.
"I intended to go from the beginning." Jade was quick and precise with his speech, and spoke without hesitation. Yu nodded, sparing a glance to Yarashii, who had opted out.
"... Ready to go anytime."

Raiga couldn't help but frown, when Yarashii opted to sit the mission out. "Aw don't feel that way, deary. You're no bigger a liability than Kazi-kun's attitude, that's for sure." She tried to cheer the half-demon up, but as she tried, Yukari made off with Marisa, and a very confused Kirby. Bit by bit, their group was growing smaller. It was a shame really, though nothing that she couldn't find some amount of levity in.
"Well, if you're absolutely sure, Yarashii, then I guess there's no helping it. I guess that just means I'll have Yu-kun AAAAALL to myself~." Raiga slunk close to Yu, purely for the sake of teasing Yarashii. In truth, she hoped it would get the cat girl to change her mind, though she had a feeling it wouldn't work.

"I'll stay," the Doctor piped up. "Not that I don't want to come with you all, mind you, but I have an...I think there's a possibili-....You know, I'll just explain it to you all when you come back."
X, Zero and Kazuya all looked to him in bewilderment. Did he have some sort of plan of his own? If so, why couldn't he explain it to them just yet? X was willing to trust him since he'd already proven ten times over to be both knowledgeable and righteous. Zero and Kazuya still held their own suspicions, however. Zero wasn't one to trust scientist types; he'd seen too many others lack the wisdom to balance their own intelligence. Kazuya simply didn't trust anyone aside from himself. Not completely at least.
It was settled that the Doctor would stay behind, as well as a few others. With this detail out of the way, was it finally time to head to their next destination?

Yarashii sighed at Raiga's attempt to convince her, by using Yu, and shook her head. Her expression hardened and she spoke to the older woman with her military voice. "I am sorry but my decision is final. Not even fondling Yu in front of me will change it."
Carl was only mildly suspicious of the Doctor's lack of an explanation for his plan. He was practically an expert on all this dimensional stuff anyways, right? He must have known what he was doing and the undead man trusted in his judgement. Whatever the Doctor had cooking was surely going to be of help. No reason to be suspicious of him.
Doctor Robotnik waved away everything with a flick of his wrist, uninterested in the group's own private discussions.
"Good, now that we have that settled, I can actually tell you all about what the heck you'll be doing."
A small console rose up from the floor next to him and he pressed a single button upon it. A moment passed before a light shone from it, creating a holographic picture in front of the group. Displayed was a large sword that...looked to be made out of flesh of some kind. A large eye was embedded in the blade's middle and a disturbing red aura seeped off it.
"This is Soul Edge." Robotnik started. "A blade of magnificent power." He then pointed at the group. "Your goal is to head into this world and retrieve it."
Suna already had a concern and raised her hand. This made the mad scientist grumble and he shook his head in response. "This isn't a classroom. Just go ahead and say what you need to say."
The green-haired maid hesitated for a moment as she thought of a proper way to voice her concerns. "Uhm...won't the locals of this world have a problem with us just waltzing in and taking one of their world's most powerful items?"
"Maybe." Robotnik shrugged. "Or they might be happy to let you have it. The sword corrupts anyone who wields it, so some of them might think it's better for it to be gone. Either way, that's something you'll all have to deal with on your own. There'd be no point in having specific teams if we held your hand throughout the whole thing!"
Suna became silent, indicating her question was answered. It was not exactly a satisfactory response, but she realized it was the best the mad scientist could give her. Or, at least, the best he wanted to give her.
The image of the sword disappeared and the console retreated back into the floor. Robotnik stepped aside, leaving the path to the portal clear for the group.
"It's all up to you guys now. Get going!"
Carl groaned, getting tired of the mad scientist's attitude, and approached the swirling mass of blue and red energy. He took a deep breath and looked back at his allies.
"Whoever throws up from the ride is the biggest loser in our group."
He then jumped into the energy, disappearing in a brilliant flash of light. Suna took a deep breath and quickly followed him, disappearing as well.
Yarashii silently looked on, waiting for the others to leave as well. Her emerald eyes focused on Yu and she smiled at him, silently wishing him a safe trip.

Raiga walked over to Yarashii, and lightly placed her hand on the Major's shoulder. "Hey, Yarashii, you know I was only teasing, right? You know I wouldn't do something mean like that, not after all you've been through. You take it easy, okay? When we come back, I'll let you know how boring the mission was, so you know that you didn't miss anything. Wish us luck." Raiga walked over to the portal, and gave the cat demon a wave before she casually fell backwards into it.

Yu let a smile smile slip out as he turned, entering the portal after Rivera. As he did, he extended one hand, just as if he was entering the TV world. He didn't exactly know what to expect, but... it couldn't be too dissimilar, right?
Jade simply fixed his glasses, walking in after the persona user, his hands firmly in his pockets. He quite frankly didn't bother with any fancy goodbyes, and instead simply walked through, quietly vanishing into the portal.

? ? ? Inter-dimensional Darkness
So...in hindsight, running through a rift in space and time without any idea what's behind it isn't a very good idea. You could end up in a place full of giant man-eating abominations. You could end up in the center of some universe's sun. Or you could end up like a specific red demonic man, who was currently falling through a never-ending abyss of darkness.
"Not one of my brightest ideas..." He mumbled to himself as he continued to fall. He wasn't falling at a particularly high speed. He felt as if his descent was being held back by a parachute. If he wasn't worried about where he was, he could have actually found this to be relaxing. Of course, that wasn't exactly the case. Then the unexpected happened.
His hooves touched solid ground.
Hellboy raised an eyebrow at this development. Relieved, but still worried. After all, at the moment, he was surrounded by overwhelming darkness. In the distance, he could see some lights similar to stars and swirls of multicolored dust similar to galaxies. It honestly looked as if he were standing on nothing in the middle of space. Overall, it was absolutely beautiful. But the demonic man decided he didn't have any time to admire the beauty and began to venture through the darkness, holding his over-sized revolver with his left hand while holding up his stone right hand, prepared to attack any enemies or block an incoming attacks.
His yellow eyes strained as he swore he could see something in the distance.

A glint of light, and the feel of rushing wind. In reality, it was a sword-like projectile, thrown with such speed and precision that it darted past Hellboy's head and barely grazed his cheek. But that was all he saw, and felt. In the distance, another figure began to be seen among the swirling lights of the area. It was clear as the figure came closer, that it was a young woman, with short, dark blue hair and cold blue eyes that were similar to ice itself. She was garbed in a black robe that was similar to that of a member of the clergy, with white trimming at the sleeve and neck area. Nested in her hands were long, gleaming swords that were similar to the one she had just thrown. But the most noticeable feature about her, besides her obvious beauty, had to be her gaze. Cold, emotionless and unforgiving, it was clear that she wasn't pleased upon seeing the demonic creature in front of her at the moment.
"...That's far enough. I don't know who, or what you are, but as a member of the Church, I can't let you go."
Supplemented by her words, was the warning shot she had just fired, if it could even be called that. If the shot had been even slightly off, then it would have hit his head cleanly.

? ? ? Interdimensional Darkness
He sat cross-legged on the cracked, violet colored ground. He was calm and focused. The energies of this dimension were strange, but each day he understood them a little better. He was close to full comprehension now. He felt that any moment, the final piece of the puzzle could reveal itself to him, then he would truly understand the workings of this world.
...But now was not that time. Piccolo felt two unexpected entities appear from out of nowhere. It was most likely just a straggler who got caught in one of the rifts. Even so, it was worth checking out.
Piccolo took flight and made his way towards the disturbance. It didn't take long to find it. A red, demon-like creature dressed in modern clothing. He was currently being confronted by a woman in robes.
A demon and a priest. They might have been from the same world. Or maybe they were just confused, and assuming they were each others' enemies.
Piccolo remained floating high above them, observing how the two would resolve their issues. He couldn't get involved yet. He wanted to see what these two were capable of first.

? ? ? Inter-Dimensional Darkness
Hellboy didn't even need to press a finger against his cheek. He knew whatever this woman threw had managed to cut him, if only slightly. He could instantly tell from the tiny cut that the weapon had been holy in some way. The woman's mentioning of a church further supported this. He didn't like to complain, but he was honestly annoyed that he had run into someone like this so soon after arriving here. The most striking thing, however, was her look. Her blue eyes were cold and devoid of emotion. Was this part of her normal personality, or was she one of those people who shut off all their feelings when fighting? Either way, her expression told him in an instant that she was serious.
He sighed.
"Well what exactly do you expect me to do? Those swords you're holding and that look in your eyes makes it obvious you aren't planning on taking me alive."
Hellboy aimed the Good Samaritan at her, ready to fire at a moment's notice.
"I got a lot of living left to do. Not gonna just sit back and let you take me. Now how about we just settle down and talk this out? I got nothing against you, besides the fact you almost cut my face off, and you got-"
He paused, realizing what he was about to say was wrong. This woman mentioned she was a member of the church. She was using weapons imbued with some sort of holy enchantment. It was ridiculously obvious that this woman hated demonic beings such as him.
"Son of a..."

"That's right. I've never encountered a creature like you, but it's clear that you have demonic origins." Her expression did not change as she spoke, not even the slightest of anger or any emotion broke through her solemn visage.
"Nothing against you? That doesn't matter. Just living is a heresy." She continued coldly, her swords not wavering even with Hellboy's pistol pointed at her. "However..."
Grudgingly, she lowered her fighting stance, if not very, very slightly. "...This situation is different. I didn't expect to be sucked into a temporal rift... Zelretch's 2nd Magic? No... not even he can maintain this." She muttered quietly, seemingly mulling over what possibly brought her here. Despite that, her body was notably still alert, most likely because of Good Samaritan trained on her. The lithe church mediator didn't know what exactly Hellboy was, and it was clear that he was a demon, but there were larger issues to consider first. Besides, it wasn't like the Burial Agency had a "kill first, mediate later" policy.
...Well, to be fair, they technically were known to do that. But that could wait. Dispatching the demon could come after learning about how she ended up in another dimension, for starters.

"Just living is a heresy."
The complete and utter stupidity of such a statement dumbfounded Hellboy. It annoyed the heck out of him as well, but the pure ridiculousness of it was mind boggling. He dealt with crazy religious extremists and zealots before, but they were simply something you never really got used to. And if you did get used to them, your life was crap.
He couldn't resist letting out a sigh of relief and put his gun to the side. He still held it in his hand, just in case, but he was no longer aiming it at the woman.
"Good to see you've got some sense in that brain."
The red demon heard her muttering, likely talking to herself and trying to figure out how she ended up here. This was disappointing but not surprising. Hellboy began walking towards her, talking as he went.
"I'm gonna assume from your whispering that you got no idea how where you are either, eh? Well that sucks. Cause I ain't got a clue either."

Piccolo heard everything. It seemed that they weren't going to throw down so long as they had questions for each other. In that case, he had to resort to the old fashioned way of determining their skills.
"You guys picked a bad place to get lost," he said as he slowly descended to the ground. The two should have been easily able to see him. His white turban and cape contrasted against the rest of the dark atmosphere.
"Luckily for you, I have just the answers you're looking for. They're yours on one condition."
Piccolo threw his turban and cape to the ground, revealing his antennae to the two visitors.
"If you two can fight, then prove it. I don't care how you prove it, so long as you do."
He somehow doubted they would attack immediately considering how out of the blue his proposal was. For safety's sake, however, he entered a defensive stance.

"Give it a rest, Piccolo." A white-haired young man in black armor stepped toward the commotion. He had a sinister looking red crystal sword, but he seemed more annoyed than dangerous. "If you're all done being idiots, we can move to the Sanctuary. If you can't get along, then go ahead and kill each other. It'll be of no loss to me." Personally, he would rather see the woman perish. "Just living is a heresy" was a bad first impression. He disliked her type the most.
