7:45 AM
A sunny, but nonetheless cool day in the green, rural countryside of Great Britain. A stone bridge and several hills in the distance marked the area as one of the few places left in England to not be overrun with metallic structures and massive concrete roads. What was even rarer was the mysterious absence of poverty that has struck much of England's countryside. The structures here, with a few exceptions, were mostly modest, and the roads were mostly dirt. It was a very quiet place with plenty of space to breath, though perhaps lacking in some of society's more artificial pleasures.
Amongst this area stood a very large institution known as Carnigan University. It was by far the most oft visited area in these parts, especially today of all days. September 24th, the beginning of the University's first semester, just barely after the beginning of autumn. Students hustled to attend their first classes. The parking lot was quickly filling with cars of all kinds, driven by many kinds of students, each special in their own way.
However, there were a handful of students that could be considered particularly special. Perhaps a bit too much for their own liking....
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Kyle turned off the ignition in his car and walked out. He closed the door and made sure the minivan was locked. After that, he put his hands in the pockets of his sports jacket and began his trek toward the East Wing.
He remembered the layout of the school perfectly.
The University was divided up into four sections. There was the central plaza, the west wing, the east wing, and the north wing. Most of the sports classes were handled over in the East Wing, since that's where the garage, the gym, and the fenced fields were.
His dorm, he remembered, was located in the North Wing. He wanted it in the East Wing, but sadly, the only one they could give him was in the North Wing.
Kyle entered the main hall. A very spacious area with lots of marble flooring and pillars. Staircases for the upper levels of the University were located at the far end of the hall. A number of shelves holding minor awards given to students of the university and the university itself were displayed for the students to see at various locations. Abstract art was hung on the walls along with a few motivational posters. Most curious was a very detailed mural on the west side of the hall that pictured a number of people inside a pot, symbolizing the "melting pot" philosophy of the school.
Kyle continued onward to the north wing, which was decorated with a number of math, science and business related posters and bulletins. Not really the kind of place Kyle preferred to stay at, but it was better than nothing.
Kyle used the key mailed to him to open the door to his new place. He set down his bag and the flatscreen TV he was carrying on his shoulder and hopped on the lower bunk of the bed.
....So, this was where he was going to live now?
Here, with all these people? With a roommate?
He hesitated to call this home.

7:50 AM
The morning sun. A time where dusk and dawn intertwined and the moon cohorted the beautiful sunrays with its immersing, cooling aura. This was always the time of the day where Arkadi would wake up at his ordinary self and begin his utterly rambunctious day as Arkadi the student. He was honest to himself when he abode by the fact that the wee hour of the morning was always the most peaceful time of the day. It was when many denizens of the world were still lost in deep slumber, or were just starting to prepare for their long days ahead at school and work and what have you. It was a rigid life of constant learning that Arkadi was, quite frankly, attuned to an adequate extent.
But adequate wasn't enough for him. It was never enough. God damn it, he sometimes even bit his own nails over how he wasn't really good enough. How he wasn't quite where he wanted to be in life. But the rise of the morning sun always reminded him of greater days ahead; no matter how strong the clouds were, the sun always rises the next day. He had to be strong for himself, not for his parents, not for any friends he would hopefully make along the way, but for himself and the future he wanted to secure. A pleasant, fruitful destiny where he could give back to those he loved.
And so awaited the first day of his new life. Never again would he have been surrounded by the silver-spooned rich kids who kept reminding him of his insecurities, but hopefully of a diverse community of aspiring scholars who would encompass the true college experience. It was a good opportunity for Arkadi to reinvent himself and put himself on the right path for what he wanted to do in his life, and not be constantly badgered by those unsightly goals his parents would have him set out for them. And so he did, as he set the remainder of his Gundam collection on the side of his desk, and proceeded to sit down and stare all of those old photos on his wall. Those memories. Those collective reimaginations of who he was going to be in his life.
Room N-109, huh?
A heavy, worrisome sigh left his mouth rather sluggishly. He didn't know where his roommate was, much less who he is. FaceZine didn't really help him as his roommate never seemed to have one. Oh well, maybe now was time to get ready for the turbulent times of the rest of the day. And hopefully he wouldn't have to get involved with that armor once again...
Wait a minute. His roommate just walked back in. Oh, the day was already looking like it was going to move by quickly.
Arkadi's sullen face, hovered over his desk, quickly rose at the sight of his roommate. Having not made much contact with the fellow, he didn't know what to think at first...he seemed very reserved, but his brutish appearance did cause Arkadi to stutter slightly. Nonetheless, he had to make some sort of introduction, so the boy approached him and, with a slight wobble, held his hand out for him in a handshake.
"H-Hi. I'm Arkadi. It's a pleasure to meet you, Kyle." An awkward introduction as it was, it may have been the best he could give for now with his attempted smile.

Girls Dorm: N-169
"...Sí, no te preocupes. ¿Voy a estar bien, bien? Adiós, mamá."
Throughout the noisy chatter and restless movement of the hallway, the sound of quiet, concise Spanish and a heavy sigh somehow emerged. The owner of said sigh emerged in a sea of traffic, being bumped into by a multitude of fellow 1st years with heavy boxes in hand. As the figure squeezed past the sea of future students, eyes glancing ahead to the end of the hallway, the figure's appearance became more clear. The figure had faded blue jeans matched with a rather oversized hoodie that couldn't hide her female form, with the hood flipped over so that the only feature anyone could see, were a pair of two stunningly beautiful emerald eyes in the shape of crescent almonds.
While everyone else had a large box in hand, the young woman had two, although she held it as though they were extra fragile. Her eyes scanning the length of the hallway until they met a single door at the very end of it, standing there forlornly as if waiting for her. Gently placing her boxes down in front of the door, she brushed her fingers over the plaque that noted the room number, raising an eyebrow as she realized it was room 169. An interesting way to start out...
"...Where did I put it?" The young woman muttered again in slight irritation, switching her language to English with little difficulties, if not with a slight accent. Fumbling around in her hoodie pockets, she sighed slightly in relief, producing a small, silver key from her pocket and inserting it into the door with a click. As the door opened, she couldn't hide a small sigh of irritation, grimacing at the size of the dorm room. It was smaller than she expected... but bigger than her older brother had said. In a sense, it was the ideal size of about two people, with white marble floors, plain white walls, and two beds set on opposite sides. There was a large bag on both beds, with the linen and sheets inside, while a few empty cabinets and drawers were set to the side to place items on.
After staring at the room she would spend a year in for a minute longer, she finally nodded, before placing both of her boxes gently on the counter, and looking at the medium-sized window that invited a warm light in the middle of the room. Leaning over the window, the sun stroked her features, the mysterious woman reaching into her hood and seeming to lightly grasp something.

The first day at Carnigan University. Well, moving day at least. Would that even count as the first day despite there being no classes? It was a question that ran through her mind longer than it should have. The young woman barely even paid attention to the main halls' beautiful marble flooring and pillars. She had long silver hair with three braids by her left and right ears. Her frilly knee-length dress was completely black on the upper half, the part around her chest and stomach, but had flower designs of red, blue, and green spread all throughout the bottom half. Her leggings and shoes were black as well while her finger-less gloves shared the same colorful design as the bottom of her dress. Atop her head she had one red flower and one green. Some of the students stopped to look at her but she simply continued to walk, pulling two red velvet suitcases behind her. Their wheels squeaking quietly as they rolled across the floor.
There were so many people walking about, each one carrying their own items for their own rooms. Her orange eyes would occasionally look at some of the other students but she said nothing. They were boring to her. She had no reason to speak to them. At least, not at this time.
Aika finally stopped when she came to a split in her path. One had a sign saying it was for the male dorms while the other said it was for the female ones. She walked down the hall marked for the women and began looking at the doors for her room. The silver-haired woman whispered to herself as she went, constantly reminding herself of her room number.
"One sixty-nine. One sixty-nine. Room one sixty-nine..."
Her room was already opened. Interesting. This meant she probably had a roommate. Or there was a mistake and someone else got her room key too. Or someone was trying to break in. No, it couldn't be that. There was little reason to break into an empty dorm room.
Aika stopped in the door frame, briefly looking around the room before her eyes stopped on the young hispanic woman leaning against the counter, where two boxes sat. She was actually rather attractive, despite wearing such a large hoodie. The oversized garment failed to completely hide her womanly features, although the most interesting part of her were her bright emerald eyes.
Hm. At least this woman looked interesting.
Aika walked further into the room, standing her two suitcases upright before turning towards her roommate.
"So...I take it that we're sharing this room?"

A handshake...
"Yeah, sure," he said in response. He grabbed his outstretched hand and shook it firmly...perhaps a bit too firmly. It would have been an uncomfortable tight shake for Arkadi.
"...Bottom or top?" He asked. He figured that Arkadi would know he was referring to the beds.

Wow, this man had a firm grip, though he didn't really seem interested in knowing more about him. Hopefully it wasn't going to be always this awkward. It was worth guessing that he had shook hands with people before, so maybe it wasn't too bad...Arkadi, however, cocked his head slightly to the side and noticed Kyle's stuff was set on on the bottom bunk. The boy didn't really have much of a say in it and even if he did, he wasn't willing to contend now with this big brute with his imposing figure.
"Ahah...I'll just take the top bunk. It's fine." Arkadi chuckled nervously as he reached for his large black leather bag where he still had bedding to unload, dashing up the ladder to his top bunk and frantically putting his bed together before the thought of putting his bed together would eat away at him later. At least he got that out of the way, blowing into the wind a bit as he descended back down and locked eyes with his roommate once again.
"Okay...I think that should do it." With a slight hesitancy in his voice, Arkadi had gave his roommate some leeway to speak again, wondering if he had any other questions or concerns to follow up on.

Kyle remained silent. It wasn't that he was ignoring his roommate so much as something had caught his attention. Kyle unzipped his bag and began putting away his clothes. After that, he began decorating the room a bit, just as Arkadi had. He hung up an autographed poster of Charles Barkley on the wall, and placed a stuffed panda bear on the desk, next to the model of the robot.
"...You don't mind if I put this here, do you?" He asked in a soft voice.

A bus pulled up in front of the entrance to Carnigan University, dropping off a disgruntled young man in a black T-shirt and chained cargo pants. His dark green eyes squinted in annoyance as he saw the dorm a considerable distance away from the bus stop. At least the morning sun was bright, unlike how it was in the city. He scratched his head through his sloppy blonde hair, and grabbed his two duffel bags before he began to walk toward the university. The people he walked by only offered him passing glances. At least it was a nicer crowd than back home but he could tell he was already being judged. It annoyed him. It sucked that he couldn't stay in Philly. That fight with the teacher was so not his fault.
"Well, at least I'm staying at this place for free." Yeah his tuition and room were already paid for by a benefactor. A teacher he knew from Carnigan. How did he know her? Well, that was a little hard to explain, let alone believe. But what astonished him more was just how, weird this school was. marble columns and floors, awards displayed for all to see, it was almost more like a museum than a college, but then than might have had to do with how relatively empty it still was. he eventually made his way through the north wing, which was painful. He grimaced as he walked by all the math and science posters. Great, so this was the kind of place he would be staying in.
"At least it's free. At least it's free."
He approached his room, and placed his bags down to get the key out of his pocket. N-112. He opened the door, and noticed it was pretty bare. His roommate must not of gotten here yet. Neil O'Connor, or something. Well, better to get his stuff squared away before he came. He put his clothes away, surprisingly neatly, and then unpacked his guitar, his amp, his shinai, and a bokken. He left them resting against the bunk bed, before vaulting up onto the top bunk. He lied there, just wait for his roommate to come, though not without pulling out a lolipop, and sucking on it. Carnigan University... Well, hopefully things will be interesting.

A twitch. For a split second, the young woman's left hand that was inside of her hoodie pockets twitched, as if startled by the silver-haired woman's voice. It seemed to begin to pull out something, before the hand quivered again, as if she forced it back into the pocket with all of her will. Shaking her head lightly at her antics, the hooded figure slowly turned to acknowledge Aika's presence, her green eyes twinkling under her hoodie. Faintly under the shadow of her hood, her eyebrows raised, as if surprised of the appearance of Aika. Of course, her reaction was probably modest compared to that of most. Her presumed-roommate that stood out in every way, whether it was her long, braided silver hair, beautiful flower patterned dress, and...
"Orange..." The hooded woman couldn't help but breath out, staring slightly at the warm, bright shade of orange that looked back into her eyes so intently. Realizing that she was staring, she quickly averted her own eyes, staring back to the counters.
"...Yeah, it looks like it." She finally got out after a short silence, glancing back at the unusual looking young woman. The hooded woman's voice was somewhat quiet and reserved, but there was little hesitation or fear in them. A faint smile emerged behind her hood, the woman holding a hand towards the silver-haired woman.
"Clara Alvez... future detective. And you?"

Aika noticed the woman was staring at her. Did she find her attractive? Or...ah, yes. She was looking at her eyes. Her eyes were orange, an unusual color after all. The silver-haired woman giggled when Clara vocally noticed her eyes.
"And thine eyes art a brilliant jade." Her voice was soft and polite. She took a few steps towards her roommate and respectfully bowed. She then noticed the extended hand and quickly realized the hispanic woman was awaiting a handshake. Aika quickly stood upright, feeling some slight embarrassment, and gently shook her hand.
"I am Aika Kuroki. One who fancies a future in literature. Fiction, if thou wished to know."

Boy's Dorm?: Outside Room N-109
Welp, she was lost, horribly, and utterly. Completely lost. Well, partially, it was her own fault. She couldn't bloody see over all the shit she was carrying, and she was carrying quite alot of it. Portfolios, supplies, personal belongings, bedding, and more. And judging from the sound of the voices around her, and the snickers she was hearing now, she wasn't even in the right dorm.
"... bloody... what do I need to do to get a hand around here?" The only thing she really had free was the back of her head, and if she was carrying any more stuff, then she'd be hopping around on one foot.
"... hope someone's in there." She turned, her back to the door of a room labeled N-109, and knocked three times with the back of her head. No one was offering, so it was time to be a little more... direct in asking for help.

...Thine? Thou? What the hell was she saying? Was this how people in Britain spoke...? Clara felt a grimace come to her lips at the very thought of the teachers and students in the school speaking like her roommate. Regardless, the hispanic girl gracefully wrapped her hand around Aika's, trying to raise an eyebrow at her choice of major. Fiction...? Perhaps her roommate could entertain herself with such things, but for her, cold facts were far more comforting. Then again, it wasn't her place to judge. If she wanted to spend her life writing imaginary stories, than it wasn't any of her business.
What's more, she seemed nice enough. They probably wouldn't have very many problems... hopefully.
Suddenly, while the two shook hands, the young prospective detective leaned forward, her gleaming jade eyes staring intently at Aika's orange eyes. A somewhat uncomfortable silence passed between the two, before she suddenly pulled away, a slight smile evident on her face. The young hispanic woman moved over to her boxes, placing a hand on the top of them.
"You really have beautiful eyes, you know." Without any hesitation or self-control, the young woman candidly spoke to her roommate-to-be, although the statement felt less like a compliment, and more like she were listing a fact. It didn't feel like a statement to get on the silver-haired young woman's good side, but obvious fact, at least to her.
"...Lo siento." She muttered in quiet Spanish, opening her box as a smile came to her lips, which most likely would have looked beautiful if not marred by the fact that she had oddly not taken her hoodie off yet. "I'm talking too much. Shall we pack now?"

A rather quiet response from the brutish man. It seemed that he wasn't quite as imposing as he looked, but still, Arkadi couldn't shake off the feeling that this man was just holding back against him. He knew these types...their humility in their own strength only made it look worse when they began to project it upon people. It just stressed him out a little more, a drop of sweat slowly tricking down the side of his cheek without him subconsciously noticing it. Considering he would be living with this man for another year or so, however, he may as well at least try his best to remain on good terms with him. At least this Kyle fellow was trying, and that was veritable as it seemed.
He even took out a teddy bear...? Huh, that was odd. The last time Arkadi remembered playing with a teddy bear was during his childhood when his parents had a whole playpen for him. Needless to say, being reminded of those easier times was a little pleasant, and it least gave the big brute some character. With a hand stroking his chin, Arkadi responded with attempted ease, "Y-yeah, that's fine. It's original."
Arkadi thought that was probably the last of the shuffling around he'd have to do, until he heard a voice. Someone at the door asking for help. It was a British tone that he was used to, but given that this school was on the British countryside, it was to be expected. His voice was fairly British as well, if not for the sense of disquietude that softened it somewhat and the slight Russian lisp he got from his mother. Arkadi figured he may as well answer the door to see who was behind it, locking an eye to the peephole and noticing it was just a harmless looking girl. With a sigh of relief, the young man opened the door and waved to her, even if her stressed look was setting him off a bit.
"Hi there..." Arkadi answered, attempting a smile as he looked up at her face. "Do you need some help getting around?"

...A visitor?
Of course. This was a university, not some cottage in the middle of nowhere. Granted, the university was debatably in the middle of nowhere too, but still.
Kyle walked behind Arkadi and looked down at the girl with the shirt with the bubble design on it. He thought it was a kind of cute, though it wasn't something he would ever wear. He preferred plain shirts or shirts with logos on them.
....
This girl had decided to visit their dorm only minutes after he had moved in. Were visitors going to arrive so frequently? He hoped not. He didn't have any ill will toward them, but he simply didn't have any interest in constantly catering to strangers.
Kyle waited for the girl's response.

"Uh..." Well, the girl had to admit one thing, the first guy wasn't bad looking at all. The other guy though... he was freaking massive. Well, he might be able to help her carry her stuff, but right now....
"Uh... look, so, I was just wandering around, taking in the sights of my compy in my face-" it literally was in her face "- and no one was offering to help, so I'd just really like'ta ask; mind helping me find the girl's dorm?" It was a hopeful question at any rate. From what the girl could see as she attempted craning her head around, the guy who answered the door looked like quite the gentleman.
"Oh, and the name is Lyla, before you as... whoah, WHOAH..." Lyla took two steps back, almost losing her balance under the mountain of personal effects, and stopped herself an inch in front of Arkadi, narrowly avoiding crushing him with her mountain of belongings, as well as her body.
"Sorry, I must be whinging an awful lot, aren't I?" Lyla chuckled nervously, straightening herself back up... luckily, it wasn't the weight so much as it was the fact that she couldn't see shit that was the problem. If someone just led her, then...
