The Beach
A large host of people from various places have been invited to a beautiful island resort. It is the type of place seen only in movies and pictures, a place rarely seen in reality and within one's grasp. Its beauty and magnificence is of a kind common in dreams. The mysterious benefactor of the trip is nowhere to be seen, but when one is greeted with such a sight and such an opportunity, what reason is there to worry?
A young woman, looking no older than her early 20s, sat on her towel on the beach. Her large orange eyes stared out into the deep blue sea, a smile upon her face, and her fingers dug into the pleasant white sand. It was soft and comfortably warm, bringing a small giggle out. The young woman had long silver hair with three braids on both her left and right sides while two roses sat comfortably atop her head. Her body was thin, yet not unhealthily so, and she wore a black bikini with colorful rose designs on the top and bottom pieces. Around her neck, on a black string, sat a jade comma-shaped jewel.
She let out a sigh of relief, enjoying her break from college. Sitting next to her was a a strangely dressed man. He wore a green shirt with black tights and brown boots and gloves. A dark green cloak was wrapped around his neck, with the hood drowning his face in impenetrable darkness, even with the bright sunlight. The man looked around for he was still amazed at the beauty of the place. Several palm trees stood about, providing shade for those who desired it. Some even had coconuts growing.
He looked at his mistress. "I take it your enjoying yourself, Aika?"
She took a moment before answering him. "Of course. This place feels as if it has sprung forth from a tale of some kind."
Several yards away from the summoner, standing on the end of a wooden dock, was an attractive woman. Her skin was pale, almost as white as the sand, and her eyes were a magnificent shade of green, surrounded by heavy eyeliner and eyeshadow. Her long raven hair danced to the gentle movements of the wind and her arms were wrapped around herself, a perplexed expression adorning her face. She wore a black bikini with thin, red, vine-like designs on the top, while the her lower half was covered in a red wraparound skirt. The woman's body had some slight muscle to it, which was more apparent in her stomach area.
Veronica sighed. "This is...my first time at a beach like this." Of course she had been to a beach before, but she had never gone to one to actually enjoy its pleasures. Nor had she even worn an outfit such as this. Her eyes were fixed upon the water, watching the fish swim below the surface.
Behind the beach, built into the small mountain behind it, was a large wooden building, capable of housing over a dozen people. Two sets of stone steps lead up to it.

[[Time to shake off the rust : D]]
Next to the silver haired woman, another young woman of a slight build stood, about the same size and height as her companion. She had smooth caramel-colored skin, light brown hair tied into a short ponytail, and stunning olive-green eyes that, rather curiously, peeked out from under the towel draped over her head. Unlike her silver-haired friend, she was wearing a pair of tight black shorts and simple sleeveless black shirt.
"...I look ridiculous." She muttered in exasperation, glancing at her roommate's disguise with a slight air of jealously to it. Regardless, she too laid a towel softly on the ground, as well as an umbrella that draped a cool shade over them. "You have a point by the way, Aika. Who even invited us here, anyway...? We're just poor college students. It all seems too good to be true, doesn't it?" It might have been her natural curiosity and paranoia as a detective-in-training, but she found it difficult to focus on enjoying the moment while the question still rang in her mind.
Near the dock, where the pale emerald maiden was standing, a sickly looking priest with tousled brown hair stood next to her. He was wearing white swim shorts that were, rather interestingly, a similar shade of white to his priest robes, and on his right wrist, there was small chain bracelet with a black cross pendant. Thankfully, the bracelet looked like a mere fashion accessory, and the bandages that were usually wrapped around his left arm were removed. With his rather slight muscle build because of his sickness, and his rather slumped, tired looking form, he merely looked like a rather feeble looking young man at the moment. The priest worked to fight off a slight cough that was about to break out of him, before clearing his throat slightly and working his hands through his messy hair.
"It's fine, Veronica. I've only gone one other time with Elaina and a... friend." He admitted. "It's not everyday that we get to relax on a beach like this though. We might as well have some fun while we're here, right?" The priest said with a light smile, placing his hands in the pockets of his shorts.
"Besides, you look... fine." At this, he colored slightly, trying his best to not to look at the emerald maiden. He had no idea where in the world she found a bikini that matched the dresses she used to wear so well, but even he, as a priest, couldn't deny that she looked rather good in it.

One man stuck out like a sore thumb amongst the rest of the beach's inhabitants. His body was a combination of humanoid and insectoid parts, the majority of it being insectoid. Nevertheless, he had a relatively human face, brown hair, at least one fully human arm. He was wearing rather....oddly shaped swimming trunks that were likely designed to fit the shape of his inhuman thighs.
He was lying face down against a towel near Veronica. He did not seem to be enjoying himself.
"This is only a temporary respite, Veronica. Be mindful of your surroundings. We're especially vulnerable right now without our gear."
A short distance away, a slim but athletic young man was shouting loudly from behind a taco stand. He had dark blue hair, bore a confident, and was wearing pink and blue flower-patterned swimming trunks.
"Hungry!? Bored!? Constipated!? Get a load of these babies! Guaranteed to make your tongue explode with the flavor of the Schmiel family's special spices! Your choice of chicken, beef, churgak and pork! Goes down great with any cola or lemon lime!"
The young man named Rean was in business, and turning out a nice profit...Unfortunately a "nice profit" wasn't enough for him. He wanted to make a HUGE profit. He wanted to be the king of beachside taco stand owners, and by the gods, no one was going to get in his way. The undisputed emperor of tortilla-based delicacies was about to take the world by storm.
He scanned the beach for people who looked like they could use a little somethin' somethin' and found two particularly admirable women sunbathing on the shore.
"Hey, white-haired gal! Pale babe! You gals look like you could use some extra lard in those bellies of yours! I'll give you gals a discount! Waddaya say!?"

Robin Hood released a hearty laugh. "You do not look that horrid. Your charming face is still visible, so it is fine." Aika simply smiled at her friend. "One thing I have learned throughout my life is that, at times, it is best not to question good fortune. Such a time is this. We have both been working diligently in our classes, so I believe we have both deserved a break such as this." The summoner's golden eyes looked down at Clara, her smile only widening.
"Yet, thou investigative instinct will not allow thee to push aside suspicions, correct?"
Aika's attention was pulled towards the young man shouting from his food stand. She listened to him yelling about his tacos and she would be lying if she said she was not interested in trying some. "I suppose I shall fetch us something to eat." Without even asking what Clara wanted, she got up and made her way to the stand.
The young man in charge of the taco stand was rather cute. His dark blue hair was an uncommon sight and he had an aura of confidence about him. "Four tacos of each kind, if you please." A curious thought crossed her mind as soon as she asked this. Clara's suspicions got the summoner curious as well, so it was something she could not resist asking. "Oh, and...art thou a normal inhabitant of this island? Or an invited guest like us?"
Veronica smiled lightly at the mutant. "Well, then we are fortunate to have you along with us. Grant, our ever-watchful guard. If something is truly amiss then I highly doubt it will get past your paranoia." Her sentence would come off as odd to most people, as it sounded as if it were a mix of praise and insult. Max's slight coloring of his face also did not escape the maiden's notice. That, combined with his hesitant comment, made her looked at him curiously.
"Priest...are you embarrassed to be seen alongside me in such a manner?"

"Well then, fancy meeting you here." A tall, athletic red head walked up beside Clara as Aika left; it was Juli, one of the girls who had a dorm room close to them, and who had gone to the labyrinth with them, "... can't say I don't have my own suspicions, really, but... hey, who cares? Long as we can have fun, and meet new people, yeah?"
"Just sit back and enjoy a beach with so few people on it. That's my two cents." As the athletic girl laid her beach towel down, and stretched out, a confused looking, and exceptionally pale girl in a black bikini top, and a pair of swimming trunk went by her. She also had phenomenally long hair; blue-green, and down to her damn ankles.
Aire honestly had no idea why she's accepted coming to this beach in the middle of nowhere; granted, Sorel had forced her to get out of the house and off of her computer (which she snuck with her into her room here so fuck that), but... there was something fishy here. And it wasn't the tacos. Though, there was some nice compensation for being stuck in the middle of nowhere like this.
"... that's a really awesome view." Aire had never been to anything as spectacular as a beach like this before. As she though this, she noticed a couple of people at the small pier on the beach... and one coming up out of the water?
"Oh my god, the water here is amazing!" The scyllan girl Kali was wearing no more than a white bikini top as she swam in the water just below Veronica, Max, and Grant, "Its been so long since I actually got a decent swim in... this is just what I needed!" As the octopus girl gracefully dove back beneath the water's surface, her lower half was clearly visible for a moment, eliciting a startled look from at least two of the people on the beach. As she resurfaced, she grinned a little at her friends, motioning towards the water.
"Don't suppose you'd care to join me?"

A thin, toned young man with blonde hair and blue trunks with black clouds was walking across the sands with an electric guitar strapped to his back. One would think that such a boy would be having more fun, but in truth he was slightly embarrassed, no doubt in part because of his company, his mentor. Walking beside him was a vivacious woman with wild, red hair and sharp green eyes, wearing a green and white floral bikini and skirt, and hanging from her ears were a pair of gold earrings fashioned in the shape of lightning bolts. "What's wrong, Trevor? This is the first time we've spent time together in person, and you look so moody."
"It's nothing, sens-professor." Calling her "sensei" felt so awkward in public. It didn't help that he was worried people might get the wrong idea. She could have passed for a college student. God forbid that he ran into-
"Hey Trevor, are those your friends?" The professor pointed towards Aika and that creepy muscular redhead. Perfect. People he knew.
"N-no, those aren't my friends."
"But they're just as you described them... except for her. Your description doesn't do her justice"
"What are you talking about, Juli is hella-I mean... Oh damn it."
"Knew it. Come on, let's go say 'hi'."
"Professor, noooo!" The professor walked over to the group of girls with giddy anticipation. He could try to hide to temporarily avoid the situation, but he knew the professor would call him out for being childish, and he wouldn't have that. He followed after her, trying to act natural. He pulled a lollipop out of a waterproof bag in his pocket, and began to suck on it. Here we go.
"Hello, by chance are you my pupil's friends?"
"Yo," Trevor greeted as quickly and simply as he could.

[[Bleh, I guess I'll join in on this, despite my miniscule amount of time on here.]]
Further away from the bulk of the beach's inhabitants, several yards east of the young man with his taco stand, was a rather tall and craggy rock. It bent forward near its tip, extending the top part over the water and providing shade for the small patch of land underneath it. On top of this tall rock stood a man. He was lean with light muscle and his body was wrapped in bandages from head to toe. The only exposed areas were the top of his head, showing his messy brown hair, a small slit exposing his red eyes, and a larger one that revealed his mouth. He wore an open, red, button-up t-shirt with black swimming trunks. The shirt seemed to be of custom design since it had a hood attached to it.
The man was simply standing atop the tall rock, observing the others enjoy the beach.
That was, until, a young man's annoyed voice called out to him.
"Master! What are you doing standing up there?!"
The bandaged man looked down from his peak, his eyes locking onto his pupil. He had short blonde hair with several small bangs hanging over his forehead, an extra large lightning-shaped one hanging over the middle of his face. He lifted his sunglasses, revealing his hazel eyes, and he wore black swim trunks with lightning bolt designs on the sides. He had his brown beach towel tied around his neck, creating a makeshift cloak.
The young man barked at his master again. "Why not come down here and enjoy the beach like a normal person?"
He sighed. "I'm fine for now, Krizno. You go have fun. Just be careful not to fry everyone if you step into the water."
Krizno scoffed, refusing to even acknowledge such a thing was possible. He wouldn't be stupid enough to use his abilities while in the water.
"Very well. Would you at least like a taco?"
Carl smiled. "Now that sounds good. Get a chicken one for me, will you?"
"Of course." The blonde man said with a smile, walking from the rock and towards the taco stand. He noticed a silver-haired woman there and stood behind her, waiting for her to finish receiving her order. She was a rather beautiful woman though...looked to be in her early 20s.
"Krizno Makkura, pupil of the legendary Carl Makkura." He introduced himself, pride oozing from his voice. "I don't suppose either of you know who our mysterious benefactor is?" His eyes moved from Aika to Rean, indicating he was speaking to them both.

"I have no reason to enter the water at this moment," Grant said plainly to Kali. "I'll stay here and survey the area from this unnassuming position. The rest of you have your fun."
By 'unnassuming position', he meant lying down on his belly while spying on other sunbathers and swimmers. A cunning strategy....Or at least it would be if his body didn't resemble a three-armed man-beetle.
Rean, meanwhile, looked the white-haired gal up and down. She certainly did have a delicate figure. Her legs were so fine, they wouldn't have looked out of place in a pin-up poster. The sight of her 'assets' were almost enough to make him forget that she literally bought FOUR TACOS OF EACH KIND.
Business was booming, and all thanks to a saucy lass that was easy on the eyes. Best day ever? Maybe. It was getting there.
"Nah, I'm not from here. I know the place well enough though. For you, beautiful, I think I'd be willing to sell you 12 for the price of 8. And I'll throw in a bag of chips for good measure. $8.80 total. Now, if you don't mind me asking, my steamy little hotpot...Cola or Lemon-lime~?"

"Yet, thou investigative instinct will not allow thee to push aside suspicions, correct?"
"Hmph. Of course not." Clara replied to the white-haired kitsune with a smirk, as she watched her leave to go get tacos. Aika understood her, of course. That there was no way that a mystery could lie undiscovered, while Clara Alvez was nearby. Fishing into her bag nearby, she grabbed a tiny pen and placed it in her pocket. A small smile came to her lips as she lifted a set of binoculars up as well, which she fastened around her neck with the leather cord that was attached to it. Hearing approaching footsteps, the hispanic elf turned her head, eyes widening slightly as she saw her fellow students.
"Oh, it's you two..." Giving a nod in greeting, she quietly stood up, scoffing slightly at the careless words of the red head. "Who cares...? That word is taboo for detectives, you know. I'll be back in a bit, anyway." The young elf began walking away, seemingly in the direction of the large wooden building in the distance. Pausing, she turned back towards the two dorm mates, a small, but reckless grin on her face.
"If Aika asks... tell her I'm going to do some snooping around." Turning around, she resumed her walk, passing Aire brusquely.
Max seemed to get even more flustered at Veronica's question, face reddening even more despite the seemingly innocent question. No eye contact. Please, for the love of god, no eye contact. "Umm... no, that's not it. Don't worry about it too much, let's just go-"
(Clearly, he is merely embarrassed because he finds you attractive in that-)
"H-HEY! A SWIM WOULD BE A GREAT IDEA, KALI!" Giving an odd choked noise as Inner began projecting his thoughts, Max quickly interrupted his partner, hoping to god that no one saw his beet red face as he dove straight off the pier next to his scyllan friend. For a second, it seemed like he had merely sunk, before the priest rose up to the surface with a large gasp, floating steadily above the waves despite the fact that it was rather deep at the pier. Thank goodness he had bothered to learn how to swim at the Order...
Feeling a rather sharp mental glance being pointed at him by his partner, Inner could only chuckle quietly in amusement.
Several yards away from where Aika and Clara's group had situated, and further away from the pier, three newcomers walked down the length of the beach quietly. Well... one newcomer and two manual workers. One person was casually walking along, sipping on a rather refreshing looking iced coffee drink, while the other two were carrying an ungodly amount of storage containers, towels and other assorted items with them that looked to be twice their weight. The person sipping on the iced coffee was a rather attractive looking young woman in a light blue bikini, with long blue hair and cold sapphire blue eyes. She looked rather athletic, judging from the lean muscle on her body. The other two people were rather unusual looking too. One was a regal, yet lively looking young man with long dark blue hair running down his waist, tied into a ponytail, while the other was a quiet looking young man around the same age, with short silver hair and black eyes. The man with dark blue hair was wearing teal-colored swim shorts with wave patterns on them, while the other young man was wearing silver swim shorts.
"Hmm... Prince, what do you think of this location?" The woman asked with a curious look on her face, glancing around at the beach area.
"I think... it looks like... all the other damn locations..." The "prince" gritted out, struggling to hold the massive amounts of weight he was carrying.
"Oh? Is that so? What do you think?" She instead turned to the silver haired man, who looked to be having equally as much trouble as his companion, if not more because of his less muscular body.
"U-Umm... sorry Elesia, but can you just pick a spot already? We've been doing this for about 30 minutes now."
"Truly? It seems like it had been less. Very well, you can drop those now."
At those words, the large bundles of items came crashing down gratefully to the ground, and along with them, both the young men, who crashed to the soft sand as if it were their savior.
"...I thought we told you to pack light." The prince muttered with narrowed eyes, glaring at his assassin and body guard.
"Of course. This is the minimum that royalty needs, is it not?"
"...Damn you."

Where the sick priest was hesitant, the entity before him was ruthless and his eyes crossed with ire. The distant expanse of wavering azure tides parted ways at the center when the afterimage of a figure approached the priest from his immediate eye level. As the shadow separated into screens of light, a man clad in silver robes and armor approached the doe-eyed priest as he brandished two giant blades of energy shaped into feathers. The blades clicked together at the pommels as the feathers became double-bladed, rotating them around him and pointing his blades towards Max.
"Rarely do we remember ourselves at our most vulnerable. Today is the day you dearly decease, Maxwell Aene. Such an edict is willed by time."
