Devoid Tower - Presidential Suite
There had never been this many people in the presidential suite at one time before. At his desk, a man in a suite, with a head of short black hair surveyed the rest of the military officials in the room. And, as they all knew, one was missing. Devoid President Adrian Balchus knew who it was, for once.
Because Admiral Darrins was currently committing one of the single largest acts of high treason in Devoid's history by attacking Grand Divide. Not only that, he had been careless, and was currently on a live broadcast. Adrian groaned slightly, rubbing his forehead with his hands. Darrins' actions made no sense to him; they didn't fit with Devoid's ultimate goal, nor did they benefit the city in any way, shape, or form.
Fortunately, they had an out. A way to take down the Ileris, and repair a small amount of the damage that bastard had caused.
"Dr. Kesley." Immediately, a woman in a white lab coat pushed her way through the crowd, fixing her heavy glasses on her nose. She was short, pretty nerdy looking, and had white hair pulled back into a short ponytail. Under casual circumstances, Adrian might have flirted with a girl like this. But now he was all business, and his business was death at the moment.
"Is she ready?"
"Nebula? Yes. Galaxy? Not a chance. Universe? We don't even have the materials for her frame yet. Now if you don-"
"Nebula is all we need for this, Jessica." The woman shifted nervously wringing her hands at the thought of her baby facing a monster like the Ileris solo.
"A-Are you s-sure? We can-"
"I'm sure."
"... I acknowledge your decision, Mr. President. I will go prepare Nebula for immediate deployment." A quickly about face later, Jessica Kelsey was headed down to her lab, possibly for the purpose of sending what she considered her only child to certain death. Though she would follow her president's order without question, she didn't have to like it.
She knew Nebula was a weapon, and an immensely powerful one at that. Jessica still considered the prototype android an individual, and her closest friend of the past few months. As she stepped onto the elevator, and entered the floor of her lab into the keypad, all she could do was worry. Worry that one of her weapon systems, or worse, one of her critical systems would malfunction. Beyond that, she was worried that the president was grossly underestimating the Ileris. She wished he would just send more battleships after it, but no... he always had some sort of plan. She had no idea what he needed Nebula specifically for, but if the sinking feeling in her chest was anything to go by.... nothing good.
