Name: Julius Belmont
Age: 56
Gender: Male
Race: Human
Source: Castlevania - Aria of Sorrow/Dawn of Sorrow
Appearance:
Personality:
Julius manages to be a man with wisdom beyond his years despite already being in his mid fifties. When it comes to battling against the creatures of the night, such as vampires, werewolves, and demons, there is no better expert than he. He's also an expert at dungeon raiding, able to lead people through deep labyrinths and detect hidden secrets with ease. If there is anything hidden within an ominous haunted manor, a ghost town, or even an abandoned spaceship, he will be the one to find it.
Julius tends to be semi-formal in tone, sometimes speaking in linguistics that are considered outdated in the time he lived in. Phrases like "let's be off," "have at thee," and "return to darkness" are typical of him. He does, however, mix this wording with more modern phrases such as "I read you like a book," or "what a pain," resulting in him halfway between casual and serious.
The vampire hunters' temperament is generally calm, if weary, but he can turn energetic and passionate when danger shows its face. He enjoys quiet activities such as reading when he has time to goof off, saving most of his energy for when it's needed.
Julius is righteous, valorous, and compassionate. He has a strong sense of justice, as well as a strong sense of personal honor, and the ability to sympathy with others to a great degree. He's been known to put other people's character to the test when he feels he must. He is also the person you can rely on most to never ever break a promise.
Age has, unfortunately, caught up with Julius over the years. While he is incredibly powerful, even compared to all of his Belmont ancestors, his raw, unrestrained power is a difficult thing for him to unleash on a regular basis. Occasionally, when he pushes himself too hard, he sustains painful injuries such as muscle spasms. However, despite this problem, he should not ever be taken lightly by under any circumstance. He is not considered the "greatest vampire hunter in the world" for nothing.
Stats:
Strength: B
Magic/Energy: SS
Speed: B-
Combat Skill: A
Abilities:
Acrobatic Proficiency: Like the rest of his clan, Julius is very capable at making high, long and precise jumps.
Omnia Vanitas: A particularly useful skill that can only normally only be used once every six rounds that allows Julius to become temporarily immaterial and, phase through an enemy, and attack them from behind. The reason this move can not be used often is because it takes quite a bit of effort to perform, and doing it too much could present the risk of straining him to the point of death.
Holy Arsenal:
A number of weapons that the Belmonts keep on their person in order to combat the forces of darkness. All of these attacks absorb Julius' internal holy energy when used, so he has some limitation on how often he can use these weapons.
-Holy Axe: A heavy axe that can nonetheless be tossed quite a distance in order to inflict holy damage and chop up opponents.
-Holy Cross: A razor sharp boomerang in the shape of a cross that can be thrown to inflict holy damage and rip apart opponents.
-Throwing Knives: Blessed, lightweight knives that can be thrown in rapid succession. Can be thrown to inflict minor holy damage and lacerations. Can cause quite a bit of damage, since many are often thrown at once.
-Holy Water: Vials of searing water blessed by God himself that, when thrown, create an incredibly hot blue fire that sears opponents while inflicting immense holy damage. Eventually dissipates, but causes an immense amount of damage before it does.
Vampire Killer:
A long, blessed whip that, if it does not outright destroy the opponent with holy damage, causes severe divine burns, create broken bones, as well as produce several other damaging effects not usually associated with a whip's sting. The whip is capable of searing right through flesh if Julius wishes it to, but it is also capable of knocking an opponent back with incredible force and shattering their skeleton if he wants. It's an extremely powerful weapon that rivals legendary weapons such as excalibur, gram, the master sword, and other such weapons scattered throughout the dimensions. Its holy properties are to never be underestimated. Ever.
While the whip is absolutely devastating under normal circumstances, whenever it is used against unholy creatures, creatures of the night, demons, undead, necromancers, blood mages, or any other conceivable being that God deems naturally unrighteous, the weapon is almost unparalleled in power. It was created specifically to destroy the dark lord Dracula, and is capable of reducing dark gods to ashes if Julius can manage to use it with enough skill. The only problem is that, while it can conceivably destroy any unholy creature given enough time, that does not stop dark, god-like entities from reacting faster than Julius can, or killing Julius outright, since Julius, while powerful, is still mortal.
Creatures associated with the elements of darkness, hellfire, blood magic, evil, etc should be feel an unnatural sense of fear or at least severe unease toward the weapon.
Protection from Darkness: While Julius can already take quite a beating in spite of his age, he is particularly resilient to magic and dark-oriented attacks.
Grand Cross: Julius' most powerful attack, which can only be performed every once in a blue moon. By using all of Julius' combined holy energy, he floats into the air creates a giant holy cross made of energy around him. This energy cross is remarkably powerful, and can vaporize those it comes in contact with. The cross actually attempts to draw in Julius' opponents towards it, making it even more deadly. It can do much worse with "unholy" "dark" or "daemonic" creatures. This ability was once used in a battle with Soma Cruz, and caused part of Dracula's castle to crumble in the distance.
Julius can not use this attack without immense effort, and once the attack is over, he can not use any of his Belmont Arsenal weapons, his Omnia Vanitas technique, or use this move again for eight rounds of posting. He also becomes completely vulnerable for two rounds of posting, exhausted by the immense effort he put into the technique. The battle after this is used, Julius will likely also be very exhausted and need to stay out of the next few fights.
Debuffs:
Julius, at random points in time, may experience heavy bouts of exhaustion and receive injuries brought on by overexertion. When these moments happen, all of Julius' stats will lower by two full letter ranks (example, B will become D), and attacks will do much more damage to him.
Story:
Julius Belmont is the latest warrior in the Belmont family line that have been the heroes of nearly all the Castlevania series games. He has the fairly high honour of being responsible for the final defeat of Dracula during 1999, previous to the events of Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow, but this caused him to have amnesia. Only remembering that his name started with a "J" he wandered the lands and eventually found himself in Dracula's castle. He also makes an appearance in Aria's direct sequel, Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow, where he joins Yoko Belnades and Genya Arikado in attempting to stop Celia Fortner and her cult from reviving the Dark Lord once more.
In SWC, portals to other dimensions and realities began opening all over the place shortly prior to the events of Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow. During the events of Dawn of Sorrow, Julius, Soma Cruz, and several others fought a cult hoping to create a new Dark Lord of Dracula's caliber in order to create an evil countermeasure to God's inherintly good presence on earth. A stop was put to their plan, and Soma had once again resisted his supposed "destiny" of replacing Dracula as the Dark Lord. Or so it seemed.
The multidimensional crisis, in its infinite chaos, killed Soma's childhood friend Mina Hakuba. This caused Soma to despair to the point where his dark powers claimed control of him, turning him into the Dark Lord, and obtaining the memories of Dracula. For all intents and purposes, he had become Dracula. After a lengthy series of events, the new Dracula managed to conquer his own realm amongst several others by allying himself with a fellow vampire from another dimension named Dio Brando.
Julius, with the help of several other Belmonts throughout history, as well as several others, formed an alliance with each other to defeat the new Dark Lord. The conflict between the new Dark Lord and those who fought against him had become a war in and of itself, and was dubbed the Vampiric Conquest by bystanders.
Many gave their lives simply to reach Dracula. One of the Julius' ancestors in particular, Simon Belmont, sacrificed himself to defeat Dio Brando completely, disallowing him any chance to regenerate or return to the living in any way, shape or form. However, things took a turn for the worst when Dracula absorbed the soul of a vampire named Arcueid, and began a horrific slaughter imaginable only by those who witnessed it. Out of the hundreds of heroes who could be considered demigods in their own right, only barely a handful survived. The dark lord Dracula had been defeated ultimately for the final time, but only at the greatest of costs. The realms under Dracula's domain were completely laid to waste, and only five of those who attempted to confront Dracula directly survived. Julius Belmont, now the last Belmont left in the multiverse. Alucard, Dracula's son in blood, but not in heart. Ciel, a huntress serving the church from her world who witnessed the destruction of the one she loved the most at the hands of Dracula's servant, the embodiment of Death. There were reportedly two other survivors. However, their names were never known by the bystanders they saved, and the other three survivors refuse to speak their names.
Julius, after grieving for the young friend who had become his greatest enemy, moved on to explore other dimensions. He had fulfilled his promise to Soma to kill him should he ever give in to the darkness. Now he and fellow survivor Alucard work together with a man named Siegfried to combat a new evil, both of them with long-term goals to put a stop to the multiversal crisis altogether.
