Byakutora (Aku)
Age: 22 ("Birthday": October 11)
Male
Human
6'2''
197 lbs
Rank: Master
Allignment: Chaotic Neutral
Warrior (Mercenary)
Appearance: Byakutora has slightly tanned skin. He has a few scars; one underneath his left breast, one across his right shoulder blade, another along his right tricep, one on his left foot, and one scar over the occipital lobe of his skull. He has eery, turquoise eyes, and has long, shaggy white hair with loud, black low lights (he claims it is his natural hair color, and no one has been able to prove the contrary).
His attire is as follows; black and white bell-bottom pants, with two crossing chains behind the back, black steel-toed long boots, and a jacket. Underneath his pants, he wears light, yet sturdy shin guards. His jacket is white in color. A strip of thick leather covers each shoulder seam, with seven 4-inch metal spikes fastened to the leather strips. The left sleeve is torn and frayed at the elbow, and the right sleeve is torn just below the shoulder. Three chains run horizontally across the back of the jacket, serving as both decoration and added protection. He uses the chains to hold his great sword. On the back of his jacket is a large drawing of a stylized skull with a scar over the left eye socket. The outlines are thick to make it clearly visible. On his left hand he wears a half glove with four short spikes in a square formation. He wears a heavy bracer and guantlet on his right arm. The bracer consists of several segments fastened together, somewhat resembling an armadillo.
Personality: Byakutora is very...eccentric. Competition is his single most powerful stimulus, especially when it involves violence. If bored, he will go out of his way to instigate a fight, riling drunkards being one of his favorite pass times. He has no care for authority figures, and could careless about regional politics, although he is curious politics in practice. He is very direct, yet can be underhanded at the same time. Being very skilled in combat, he has put his skills up for sale as a mercenary. He doesn't particularly care for money itself, payment is simply an additional incentive, as well as an excuse to be violent. He has but a shred of honor, and will carry out whatever assignment he is given, under the conditions that it either sounds fun, pays well, or a combination of the two. He usually only accepts battles and bodyguard gigs. He refuses to partake in stealth or intelligence missions. He has no true loyalties, and will breach a contract if he feels he is being wronged.
As far as raw traits go, he is overly confident, highly tenacious, and very curious. He isn't terribly smart, though his occasional wit may catch people off guard. He can also be very emotional at times. Above all, he is fierce. Pride, wrath and lust are his vices.
Distinctive traits:
When he realizes he needs to calm down, he let's out a long whistle.
If he has trouble remembering something, he will snap his fingers repeatedly until he remembers, or simply gives up.
Due to his upbringing, Byakutora will sleep anywhere without complaint, so long as it mildly clean.
Though he was born right-handed, he was trained to be a lefty (rather brutally for that matter, resulting in the scars on his right arm).
He is largely unaffected by differences in temperature, and will wear his jacket open in both heat and snow.
History:
Byakutora was an orphan for as long as his memory reaches. He was once taken in by a peculiar swordswoman named Raiga. It was Raiga that gave Byakutora his name. Though Raiga was a decent lady, she showed no obvious kindness to Byakutora. Even eating a meal was in some way part of an exercise. Raiga had taught him how to fend for himself on the streets and in the wild. Byakutora had learned enough combat skills to deal with any average assailant, and could taken down a standard soldier. Byakutora was under Raiga's tutelage for seven years, and then one day after Byakutora's 13th birthday, Raiga vanished. He never saw nor heard of her again. He had heard rumors of a woman with a long, burning white katana that looked as if it sparked with lightining, but these rumors became ever scarcer until they were spoken no more. Byakutora assumes that Raiga is dead.
Byakutora drifted in and out of orphanages, and was a troublemaker in all of them. He once had a friend named Amy. While picking on another girl, Amy had kicked him in the balls, and thrashed him while he was down, saying that he was "too loud." She was the kind of person who would headbutt you the instant you were in her face. Byakutora had a lot of respect for her. after a year they were pretty close friends, often sharing opinions on things they both hated. For her 14th birthday, Byakutora stole a decorative knife and gave it to her. For her 15th birthday, Byakutora had beaten a group of 16 year olds into saying "happy birthday" to her. She said it was one of the best laughs she had ever had. One day she had been adopted. Byakutora never saw her again, though they wrote for a time. Byakutora later received news that she had been raped and beaten to death by a band of thieves. They had robbed her down to the cloths on her back.
Five months later, he turned sixteen, and left the orphanage. Byakutora was then enlisted as a soldier, though he was eventually discharged for insubordination. The greatsword he wields was issued to him as a soldier (which, after being discharged, he technically stole). While still a soldier, he was stabbed in the foot with a sword during a fight. This stunned him long enough to receive a near fatal blow to the back of his head. He lived because his assailants thought he was dead, and failed to finish him. After being discharged at 17, he marketed himself as a sword for hire. On an early assignment, he had encountered a man using the same decorative knife he had given Amy. It had caught him so off guard, that the man managed to stab him, leaving the scar under his left breast. Byakutora grabbed the man's arm, and proceeded to break every bone in his face. He re-acquired Amy's knife. He then found the rest of the thieves that brutalized Amy, and slew all of them. As a spoil of victory, Byakutora swiped a peculiar heavy bracer and guanlet. He couldn't help but feel that it was special. He has worn it ever since, and it has proven to be as good a piece of armor as it is an offensive weapon. He has spent the last five years selling his skills. He is even further convinced that his bracer is special, as it refuses to rust or dent, and even his right-handed punchs feel stronger, though the true nature of his bracer remains a mystery to him.
Attributes:
Might: 9
Swiftness: 7
Will: 2
Endurance: 6
Weapon: King of Diamonds: A greatsword he wielded back when he was a soldier. A finely smithed sword, it has lasted Byakutora for five years with minimal wear. The tip of the blade is enlarged and shaped like a diamond, placing it's center of gravity further up the blade, thus further increasing its cutting power. A-
Sub-weapon: Heart Breaker: The knife that Byakutora once gave to Amy, and then re-acquired. It is an ornate curved knife with wavy etchings along the blade, and three rubies embedded in the handle. It is more for show, and cannot pierce armor, though flesh is fair game. Eyes and throats are no safer.
C
Armor: Shin Guards: Light, yet durable shin guards
B+
Armor: No Name: The mysterious guantlet and bracer that Byakutora wears. It is made of a deep, bluish gray metal, and is highly polished. It was in pristine condition when he found it, and no amount of abuse has provided any visible damage whatsoever. Its odd shape allows it to deflect swords, arrows, and other weapons with ease. Its highly polished surfaces also serve to deflect certain forms of energy, particularly light.

Abilities:
Deja Vu: Byakutora has become such a battle fiend, that if he makes eye contact with someone, he can cause them to see him attack them, without him having moved at all. He will then use whatever opening they make to his advantage.
This ability is somewhat limited in uses. For one, it requires Byakutora to make eye contact with his opponent, which isn't always easy. Furthermore, the illusion only lasts for a split second, meaning that his opponent must be at a reachable distance for it to be truly effective. It is completely useless against an opponent that is further away than 15 ft.
Pins and Needles: If Byakutora strikes any metal object with his bracer, whether sword, shield, or armor, he will cause that object to vibrate so violently that it numbs the area of the body in contact with the object.
Byakutora must STRIKE the object. Blocking doesn't count. Also, the effectiveness of this ability depends on the difference between the opponent's might and endurance. If the opponent's endurance is greater than their might, this ability is ineffective. If their might is greater than or equal to their endurance, then this ability takes effect, and the greater the difference is, the stronger the effect is. (of course, if the opponent's might is low enough, he may just knock the weapon out of their hands)
Combat Style: Byakutora is a very up-close-and-personal guy, though he can handle long ranged opponents. He can throw arrows back with surprising accuracy, though it is nowhere near as fast as with a bow. He is not beyond using underhanded tactics to win, for to him, "Winners stand, and losers fall." Those who complain are simply losers. Sometimes he leaves himself open just to catch a blade. He'll also aim at his opponent's feet, as this strategy was effective against himself.
Weaknesses: Though he is capable of defending against many ranged attacks, if his opponent is a ranged fighter that is faster than him, he has no real way of catching them. If they can manage to out last him, then the battle is their's.
Relationships:
Raiga: 3: Byakutora has mixed feelings toward his MIA former mentor, though he feels that Raiga changed his life for the better.
Amy: 7: Though she is dead, he still has fond memories of his late best friend.
