Yes, who are your favorite RP characters? Not just from your own, but from the rest of our lovely group as well!
Do not be shy! I will even start this off with my own favorites to help move things along! Keep in mind these are personal favorites, not the most balanced, most likable, etc.
SRK - Vydunas
I love Vydunas. He is such a level-headed and relaxed character, yet he carries such a heavy burden with his sword, his deceased friend's memory, and his goal of trying to protect his people and take down the diabolical empire! As well as assisting his friends with their endeavors along the way. Yet, he still maintains his priorities, such as when he declined to assist Veronica with Verkrag because he could not resist chasing down his own lead. Such a decision is one I can see someone realistically making. Realism is not something needed to make me like a character, but SRK has made Vydunas's personality so believable that I cannot help liking him.
The wolfen is someone I would not mind just sitting down and hanging out with.
Hisui - Max
I absolutely adore Max. He reminds me so much of Shirou from Fate/Stay Night because he goes and helps others without a single thought of his own safety. Such a trait is definitley a flaw, but it is something I cannot help find charming. The priest carries a large sense of guilt because of the death of his friend years ago, yet he consistently manages to keep a optimistic outlook on life. Such a thing is admirable, despite your personal feelings whether it is foolish or not.
If I needed a kind shoulder to cry on, Max is definitley the first person I would go to.
Tok - Grant
One of the things I love about Grant is that he is such a complicated character. It is rare when I can actually predict his reactions to things. He has a defined personality, but he has been through so much that it is still difficult to know whether he will approve of you or aim his gun at you because he figured your true purpose out. Like Max, Grant carries a large burden of guilt yet the scale of his is far different. It has been implied he is the cause of thousands of innocent deaths, yet instead of choosing to atone through suicide, he is living on. He also has some link to the demonic bastard Selesterge but I know too little of that for it to effect my liking of him.
Grant is rough on the outside, like your lover's father who will never approve of you, but once someone gets inside him he is much softer. His relationship with Veronica is the best example of this that I can give. It is this particular aspect of him that I love the most. I enjoy a character who is rugged on the outside, yet a faithful ally inside. Plus, his mutated insectoid body is really interesting. In multiple ways.
Greed - Ankaa Altair
Okay, yes, I was not really around much for Ankaa. But I liked this version of Altair quite a lot. He had been a scientist and had inadvertantly created the immortal creature called Hate, who bit him and turned him into a vampire. At least, that is what I believe happened...correct me if I am wrong, Greed.
Anyways, he was a scientist, yet a gentleman at the same time. He showed respect to Carl Makkura, who was a legendary hero by this time, yet was able to talk to him as an equal. He took responsibility for his actions, such as tracking down Hate and Aire, who he had turned into a vampire himself years ago. This all made me like him and genuinely interested in him. A shame Ankaa died so prematurely. Oh, and his purple suit was fantastic.
Slvr Mk.I - Ethona Carl Makkura
It was difficult to choose between Carl and Elaina. I have seen more of the undead reaper though and decided to go with him.
Say what you will, I believe Carl is one of the classic characters of the RPs (along with Tael, Vastion, Aire, etc.). Carl developed in a multitude of ways and the majority of his incarnations are interesting to me. He started out with a minimal personality but as Sollius went on he became the "dense" member of the group, always failing to notice things obvious to others. He also developed the habit of flipping people off. However, my favorite version of him was in Ethona. In Ethona, he was a Dragoon brought back from the dead by a young female necromancer, Suzuki. He was told they had been friends before his death but, in reality, he was simply an artifical being, a "golem" if you will, created by Suzuki and implanted with whatever memories of the real Carl Suzuki could remember. Unfortunately this revelation never came to pass since Ethona died. Despite some holes in his memory, the undead Dragoon protected Suzuki fiercly, like a Servant from Fate/Stay Night would protect their Master.
Advix - Winter
I actually really like Winter as a character. His interactions with Peppermint are often meaningful and interesting and the fact that he can feel when a life is lost adds a darker tone to his character. Seriously, I would be a depressed wreck if I knew whenever someone died, yet Winter manages to hold together. Peppermint's constant cheerfulness probably helps. Winter's friendship with McKenzie was also interesting and the way her death affected him was touching, as well as his interaction with Amura afterwards when she attempted to comfort him.
Chaos - Noki
I liked Kon, but I loved Noki. He was a genuine hero with a heart of gold, yet a past as black as charred flesh. He never really backed down from protecting others or fighting evil. His past life as Kon, however, came back to haunt him through episodes of seizures and throwing up pieces of gold. As well as some villains capturing him because of things he did as Kon.
But the main thing that sticks out for me about Noki, despite his devotion to his love, Eria, is that he was the only hero who wanted to side with Bodizu, the name of the spirit who possessed Carl's vacant new body and desired of a life of its own. Noki wanted to let Bodizu go and live a happy life, while the other heroes wanted to expel the spirit and let it fade into nothingness. The tension of this moment, with Noki staring down all his allies, was fantastic.
A shame Colt knocked him out with a pistol whip to the back of his head.
Lost - Nova
Nova was fantastic. A heroic jerk. He fought against Sapphire, than allowed her to accompany him later as a gesture that he was willing to give her a second chance. She betrayed him and he never trusted her ever again. I personally did not find Nova that likable (personality), but I liked his character and loved how well he was written.
When Nova was in a group with Melvar, C, and Rosen was when my liking for him grew even further. The Dragoon Hero fought alongside his allies heroically and he and C even had a team-up against Enigma and Velcan. Obviously they lost, but Nova managed to avoid having them both implanted with Enigam's mind-control crystals.
Mayor - I cannot remember much about your characters besides Drago and Jackson. It would not be fair to say either of them since I am sure you have someone better. I just cannot remember them D:

Wow, did you seriously type all that on your phone? Respect (Y)
I have class soon, but I'm definitely gonna write my own thoughts when I get h0me. It was actually really interesting reading that, and I appreciate the time it took you to write it up : D Also:

I don't know how you can pull off that entire post on your phone, but kudos! I' suppose I have no excuse not to share my slew of favorites:
Hisui: Tsuki
Say what you will, quip about Tsuki Tohsatsu while you're at it. Tsuki was always my favorite of Jisui's trio and I really liked how he developed. There was always something very mysterious about his character and I think Ethona was instrumental in shedding light upon how flexible his portrayal in the RP was. In every RP he has some sort of dynamic that connects him to Tael: In Sollius, they're best friends, even though Tael's royal upbringing always overshadows his friend. In Kyril, he basically becomes Robin and Tael becomes Batman as they escape Rellinis in fear of their life in royalty. In Ethona, Tsuki gets a distinct role as the leader of a beastkin-human coalition that directly opposes Jin's kingdom. What I liked about Tsuki is that in every RP, his personality grows more resolute with each rendition that follows the other in the RP. However, his core personality remains, reflecting the moon he so reveres as a very calm and calculated secondary hero. The way Jisui portrays Tsuki as a foil further illustrates, in an ironic twist of fate, how much better of a role Tsuki would fit as the "prince" in every RP; unlike his cowardly friend, however, he takes his lower stance in society with such humility and overall character depth that I have to grant Tsuki with the honor of being my favorite of Jisui's characters. How he generally accepted the hardship in his life, rather than run away from it like Tael did, was a quality I always respected. I just wish Hisui refined his connection to the whole angel subplot more in Sollius, it had huge potential none of us even realized.
Slvr mk. I: Carl Makkura
Carl stuck out the most out of any of the "old skool" RP flagship characters that we used to buff to hell and back. It may have been in part to the fact that Carl had a fleshed out backstory compared a lot of our on-a-whim lead characters back in the day, but no RP character at the time received the level of attention and character depth expressed through Carl's character. His entire history consisted of him losing everything he loved to being a demon's servant for the rest of his existence. This had different variations depending on the RP setting(I really liked the Ethona rendition that Mk. I described earlier) but all of them had serious implications that made me sympathize with the character. I always felt that Carl developed with the rest of us and became his own sort of character, fitting an archetype we have yet to surpass with recent characters.
Slvr mk. II: Sapphire
While the margin between Sapphire and Veronica was extremely small and pretty much negligible, I'm going to give it to Sapphire. Why? Because while Veronica is a testament to how much better we've gotten at RPing, I just liked Sapphire as a character more. Veronica's tsundere attitude was well portrayed in such a way that made it tolerable and actually interesting at times, but my personal opposition to those types is probably what sealed the deal for me. Sapphire, on the other hand, was just a really well done character and I always felt that she progressed really well in Ethona. Her loyalties to Petra were constantly being teetered back and forth between her apprehension towards Nova and her pursuit of Shockwave, but despite her hardship, she maintained a cold, hard resilience that I gravitated toward.
Tokromar: Rean
Rean changed the way we all portrayed RP protagonists. He didn't have any dark pasts or grand destiny or primordial lineage, he was just an overly ambitious urban street rat with a slightly overpowered weapon trying to free himself of the ghetto he grew up in. Every time Tok posted with him I couldn't help but admit how entertaining he was and how much I enjoyed having his presence in an otherwise really gloomy RP setting. All sorts of Lovecraftian shit was happening in the background with Jerom mindfucking Alen and Claire turning into a vampire and here comes Rean trying to be hospitable to Altair and Aire by cooking up tacos. Tok took him off course by giving him some sort of grand objective towards the end, but he stayed on par throughout the RP up until that point as a character who reminded us to lighten up a little when it came to what kind of characters we made.
Greed: Marina Sea
There's always something in one of Sacchin's characters that keeps them from being delegated as my favorite. Priscilla and Kali's personalities are too similar, Sythe just didn't do enough for me, Siphon was often overshadowed and I had a hard time figuring out if I was supposed to take him seriously or not, Altair reminded me too much of Hazama, and Aire went through too many remakes; however, I seriously considered Ankaa's rendition of Aire for this. What stopped that one was how she started to fade into obscurity after curbing her vampirism. I still really liked that version of Aire, I just wish she did more.
On that note, I always liked Marina. She was never stereotypically cheerful in any of Sacchin's portrayals(all of us suffer from making a character like that) but she adjusted to any setting she was in. She had the markings of the "girl with a grand destiny" archetype without having a grand destiny of any sort; she just had some badass angelic powers within her that she always used with good intentions. She was raised into a badass female warrior in Ethona who unfortunately got caught in the midst of her father's rise to power, leaving her caught in a moral crisis of continuing to move forward in her life or contribute to her father's power struggle. I think Lost helped a lot with the Ethona version in particular, but generally Marina was a likable character in every RP she was in. Even in Sollius, she was that one girl that everyone got along with, despite the absence of any sort of parent figure to guide her along. She moved forward quickly and I respected that about her.
Lost: Taku
Lost is one of those few people who RPed with us that I never considered to be deficient in characterization. Almost all of the characters he made were distinct and interesting in their own right, so when it came down to it, I had a hard time deciding who my favorite of his characters was, because I like all of his characters for entirely different reasons. Melvar was one of the funniest characters ever made in an RP, Nova was a stone-cold badass and compelling leader who had the character development to back it up, Velcan epitomized how much all of us could hate a villain, and Shockwave...well, you get the idea. Normally when I look at other RPs I think of a few particularly shining characters that stick out among their crop after long intervals of trial and error. I don't feel this way about Lost. He was always a talented storyteller and his presence in every RP proved this. There was a distinguished beginning, middle, and end to nearly every character he's ever made, which is very different from the way the rest of us do things, but Lost did it well.
However, I'm still going to give the award to Taku. He's always the one character of his crop that almost everyone recognizes, and for good reason. I look at Taku very much in a way that makes me feel like his portrayal in Ethona was incomplete, such that there was more to what we got out of him. Aside from defeating every melee RP character in a bout of one-on-one combat, and being a solemn guardian to the princess, Taku was a character we all feared and looked, not even for being an antagonist. Taku's name was something that people within and outside of the RP looked to with respect. And in many ways, he was a tragic character, arguably one of the most tragic characters Lost has ever made; with his lover and family nonexistent, he travels the land promising the spirit in his sword something that many RPers didn't really understand too well. He was an alarmingly existential character with depth that I don't even know if Lost was aware of. Taku's presence in every RP resonated stronger than any other character he's ever made, and he doesn't even need his badass one-liner to prove it.
Advix: Aku
Advix, I honestly haven't RP'd enough with you to make an educated decision, but you know how I feel about any iteration of Raiga. Perhaps I just need to see more of you and get more engaged in Kyril to come up with a better character than this, but I actually kind of liked Aku. His short-tempered attitude in Ankaa provided a great foil to Raiga's characteristic patience, and in Ankaa it was put to use well. The way he always butt heads with Alen was really entertaining in a way that cut out all of the slapstick from Alen's interactions with Inferno. His DGAF personality was pretty fun to read - and in many ways, reminded me of older RP characters who portrayed that personality on a similar note, such as Colt and Elesia, whom unfortunately did not make this list but I definitely would tribute them through Aku.
McCheese: Jackson I don't give a fuck what anyone says, even McCheese himself, Jackson was the shit. Before any of us knew how to lighten up in an RP, Jackson brought his afro and some funky style in the form of Tarantino-esque holy warrior badassery. He always provided a human perspective to every adventure the old Sollius crew went on, all the way up to his death, which was still reminisced upon long after it occurred in Sollius. McCheese may hate Jackson with every fiber of his being and not know what to do with him, but I've always liked him as a character - his presence was very much necessary. Granted, I like most characters that McCheese does, but Jackson just resonated the most with me.
Chaos: Kon Easily the most ambitious, distinguished antagonist any of us have ever made. Chaos made terrifying villains before any of us knew how to RP. He even had his own elaborate autobiography dedicated to him to explain his backstory and the biblical motivations behind his nihilistic behavior. Although villains like Velcan were well-versed in making me hate them, Kon actually made me sympathize with him at times; his human relationship with Beatrice that caused him to snap into a bout of insanity following her death and his heretic relationship to his church are both tenets of his extremely complex character. I don't think any of us will ever do an antagonist with the level of Kon's depth ever again; he was so far ahead of his time that it was almost scary. His defeat in the RP marked a checkpoint in which we had to start over from the beginning. Although Noki manifested from Kon's decay, he couldn't quite reach the ambition that his predecessor achieved, and having been caught in the petty romantic RP interactions, he lost the sense of purpose that Kon established for himself. Kon was at the scale of a villain that terrorized whole cities, caused other characters to beckon at his whim. And moreover, he was just a dangerous character to fight alone.
Rumblefish: Hristo
Need I say more? I've seen one post of his and Hristo already scares the shit out of me. Bring plenty of destruction homie, don't go overboard.

God dammit, I feel like giving this a shot for once. Note, I am not including anyone who no longer RPs.
SRK - Vydunas
Vydunas is one of those rare characters from SRK, the one that isn't always in a foul attitude, toocoolforschool, or just downright evil. Or maybe that was just an eventuality, who cares. Azarel applies for all of those with glowing recommendations by the way. Much of what Mk.II said is true; he's fun, he's easy for characters to get along with, and his back story, though I need to go back and read it all due to hiatus, is genuinely enjoyable. Parts of me actually thought that this is what the tri-scythe guy from Sollius, Wiseman, should have been like, but I digress, he's a cool guy.
Jisui - Max
Was about to say Tael, but I couldn't give it to him in clear conscience. Max is the paragon character done right, and has never managed to make me groan, or mash my head into the table. And that's excellent. He's one of the most straight-forward nice guys, in a group of either freaks, outsiders, outcasts or just general weirdos, and the play off of all of his odd-ball friends as it was makes him all the more charming.
Slvr(s) - Every single goddamn instance of you guys writing a Marvel character. What the fuck.
Well I've gushed enough about all you other characters over the years. At this point, it feels unfair to pick one of your characters over the other, so I'll just say that anything you two (possibly just Mk.II but I'm not entirely sure) write with a Marvel character always seems to catch my attention. Not that everything else doesn't, but there you go.
Advix - Heather
Dear god did I fall onto this one fast, or maybe Advix just planned it, cunning bastard that he is. Heather is one of Boa's undead cybernetic hand puppets that, unlike a majority of the more pyschotic and crazy ones, seems relatively sane and kind, if not more broken than Humpty Dumpty after falling off of Kyril. Literally everything about this character screamed at me "I need to be saved from a psychotic necromancer", and I mean literally. After only a few posts, I had made up my mind that somewhere down Kyril's long and twisted path, I needed to save this character somehow.
Tokromar - Yuro
The strangest character I thought I would never see, especially in Kyril of all places, the mama's boy, Yuro played his role convincingly, whether it was Tokromar or Jisui at the reins. His emotional reactions to situations are oftentimes, what I would consider generous. An average person having his best friend bitten by a vampire and deported, his city ripped to shreds by a giant death machines, and having his love interest blown in half by the same death machine would probably have gone fuck it, and rammed their head into a rusty spike. Overall, he's a pretty realistic character in that he's a pretty big coward for a kid that's probably barely seen a spec of magic throughout his entire life, and is now being thrown in the mix with vampires and science experiments gone painfully right.
On a side note, I have no clue what I was originally thinking with Marina other than "WINGS ARE COOL", nor can I remember any defining character traits she even had.... I feel quite disappointed with myself now.

SRK - VydunasI'll be honest, before Vydunas, SRK's characters... were a bit stiff in personality. I'm not entirely sure who I'd put here instead of him. Probably Franz, maybe Seth "The Chin" Caruso . But not only is Vydunas a HUGE testament to how much he's improved, he's also one of my favorite characters in Sougenmou right now. There's just something about him that's just likable in how calm, relaxed and chill he always is. And similar to what Slvr said before, I find it pretty admirable that he can maintain that image despite carrying the burden of his friend's death through Metus. Not only does he carry it willingly, he does it with a poise that makes others gravitate to him (the dude got new allies like five minutes after leaving his old group). Plus, SRK's done an awesome job at getting me interested in his backstory. When you get interested about a character, it's the mark that the creator has done a good job. Slvr Mk.II - VeronicaEveryone's favorite angry, vengeful tsundere! Honestly? She's my favorite character in Sougenmou right now. Slvr did such a good job with her, that it's not even funny. I love how easy it is to see through her. She doesn't hide anything, and even if she tries, it's painfully obvious what she really thinks. It's actually so painfully obvious when she's sad, angry or upset that it's kinda endearing. Her struggles with her other emotions, new sensations, and conflict whether to chase down her life's target or enjoy her new found friendships is really well done by Slvr. Everything about her, emotions, desires, relationships, it's all really well done. Plus, I enjoyed watching her growth as a character especially. From the beginning of the RP, where she was cold and bloodthirsty, to the current point, where she was crying on a certain priest's shoulder, it's amazing how far she's come as a character. Oh, and her lines while in Shattered Mode just obliterate all the sexual tension created by the innuendos built up and releases it all in an incredibly blunt fashion. "It's...it's like an endless orgy of death."~ Veronica Sienna Tok - GrantHonestly Tok, as long as we've been together, I regretfully haven't RP'd with you much, so aside from one spot with Vastion, I didn't have a whole lot of choices. That being said, Grant is the clear-cut winner here. Like Slvr said, he's a really, really complex character. I never know what the dude is going to do, or what his goals or ambitions are. That being said, he's shown that he's a good person at heart despite all that, and I enjoy how he's kinda taken the role of the wise-older figure/butler/expert soup maker who gives advice to everyone, like Veronica and Max. I think he's a person who's obviously made mistakes in the past, but he doesn't want other's to follow his mistakes. That's an archetype we really haven't seen before, and Grant's done a great job at it. Oh, and he hands-down has the best quotes in Sougenmou. Except maybe for Vydunas. Sacchin - MarinaBwa ha ha ha, fuck not being biased, we're going with Ave/angel wing lass here. Honestly though? Whenever I made Tael, it's like I was compelled to have him be attracted to her. It was like some weird staple in any RP they were both in together. And honestly, the concept of "girl bites guy, guy falls in love with girl" is kinda sweet in a morbid way. As for the character herself, I've always liked her, generally no matter what RP she's in. She's generally the good-hearted, bookish type in any RP she's in, and at times she could be the more observant one in the group of bloodthirsty berserkers she tended to be in. My favorite version though? Probably Ethona Marina. She took on a bigger role there, and more of a spotlight, and her interactions with Tael in the prison cellar (and the resulting punch it earned to Tael's face) was one of my more memorable moments in that RP. The Sollius incarnation had the better relationship probably, but her character tended to be overshadowed because of the mass amounts of characters we all pumped in (coughSacchincough). Regardless, she's a classic character that's generally well-received in any RP she's in. Slvr Mk.I - Sollius Carl MakkuraYou don't know how hard it was not to put Elaina here : ( And that's a testament to how much I like Carl, because I really like Elaina as a character. However, I think Elaina could use a bit more developing and limelight in Sougenmou before that happens. Anyway, I chose Sollius Carl out of all the other incarnations for a couple of reasons. One, he's probably the most likable and down-to-earth character personality wise out of all the characters I can think of. The other Carl's are (understandably) a bit dark and quiet, but if I saw Sollius Carl outside the street, I'd probably get along with him just fine. I don't really know how to explain it. He's just a naturally likable character. The second is tranny Carl, because that shit's just awesome. Nah, just kidding. Maybe. The second is because of what Sollius might have been the best at, character development. Like Tael, like Noki and everyone else, Carl developed his own unique personality as Sollius went underway, and I enjoyed watching him develop into the dense, but lovable staple character in the RP. And third, because I love his backstory and relationship with Suzuki. Therefore, I consider his relationship with Aire in that RP null and void. It never happened Advix - Yuro's MomUnfortunately Advix, I have the same problem with you as I did with Tok, except even worse However, I did get a short stint with you while I controlled Tok's character, Yuro. So fuck it, I'm selecting Yuro's Mom here. I don't even remember her name at the moment, but we had a damn good mother-son moment that time. YEAH PARENTING! In all seriousness, you did a good job conveying a character that a lot of us might have struggled with (a parental figure). I came away from that Yuro/Mom moment feeling good, and part the reason why is because you did a pretty good job playing off my own character with Yuro's Mom. Keep it up dude. Chaos - NokiWhen I think of Chaos' characters, three come to mind instantly. Kon, Noki, and Colt. While I think Kon is probably still our best villain ever made barring the one below this one, and I actually really liked Colt's character and concept, Noki will have to be my choice. I'm sorry if this offends SRK somehow, but he kinda reminds me of Max, before Max. He's genuinely a kind person who always wants to help others, even if the sin of his past self looms over him. Seriously, think of the dude's situation. He knows he's the incarnation of a serial killer that killed mass numbers of people. He knows he can't redeem himself through his actions, no matter how many good deeds he does. So what does he do? He does them anyway. That's admirable to me, and a reason why I like him so much as a character. He follows his heart, not his soul. Also, he's killed more bosses than any character in Sollius combined, earning him the title of "Boss Ender". He's like Max before Max, except actually a badass. Lost - VelcanYeah, I'm sure you're thinking what's wrong with me. This dude has fucked up so many kingdom's and people's lives that it isn't even funny. Back when Lost was RPing, he was the quintessential villain of an RP (along with Enigma, but Velcan has a bit more history). When you heard his theme play, or saw the word "claymore" in any sentence, your heart skipped a beat, and your stomach sank a little inside. Or at least mine did. I think he's the greatest villain ever made in our RPs, not only is he a bitch to fight with his crystal body, he has this weird psychological effect on you that makes you feel like something terrible is going to happen. In most cases, it does happen. Why did Tael choose this guy over Bastille again? Seriously, WHY the murderer of your father and kingdom?! That's why I have to give this to Velcan. He's honestly one of my favorite characters Lost has ever made because of the sheer tension he brings with his appearance, something that we haven't been able to replicate yet. Honestly though, this was a tough choice because Lost makes some pretty damn good characters. I was almost about to pick Bastille, then changed it to Taku, then Nova, and at one point, I was dead set on Melvar. But I'll have to give it to the Beatrice-killer in this case. Mayor - ZaneWho else to choose than the dude who I made countless Ziel's to partner up with? We may have killed every RP the Zane/Ziel combo existed in Cheese, but it was worth it. I think. But yeah, Cheese is a good writer, and he always, always manages to make me interested in Zane in some shape or fashion. Despite how many Zane's existed, Cheese always manages to keep it refreshing. There's gloating Zane, false confidence Zane, skull Zane, no-pain Zane, a Zane for every shade of the rainbow probably. But in every RP, he's generally a really entertaining character, and an unexpectedly clever one as well. I also think I would have really enjoyed the generally dark back stories that Zane received in each RP, although they never lived long enough for us to reveal them.

This thread is tough. There are so many characters that I like. Let's see...
SRK: Azarel
Say what you want, go ahead. Overpowered loli pedophilia-rapist aside, Azarel is one of my favorite characters that I can vouch for. Now let me explain. This character was truly the only one that my characters interacted with the longest. Sure SRK does have other characters, but I haven't really experience their growth as I did with Azarel. It's like watching a bright buddy of yours slowly tarnish himself into some crack addict. From the start, Azarel was the road block in Kon's journey. He was cold and stoic at first but as his character progressed, he became...well...wolfma-ahem.Despite the downfall of Azarel, you have to admit that not only we watched his growth, but the growth of ourselves because of him. This little nasty character instigated a feud we all had with each other. RPs would change, formats would change, stats were implemented. It was because of Azarel's example that led up to this point. Despite whatever method SRK tried to do, he knew he couldn't salvage a character we all watched grow and fall. In some strange freaky way, you can consider our relationship with Azarel an RP of itself ... Azarel of course, being the antagonist. LOL HOW META IS THAT?
Hisui: Tael
I wanna pick Dest. I wanna pick Tsuki. I even wanna pick Hinode whom Hisui forgot so! You FAT-okay I'll stop. Off topic, but Hisui makes some lovely nice descriptions for his female characters. They are not doujinshi material but in their own way, they're exotic. Okay, enough of that. To me, Tael is pretty much Azarel gone right. We watched this little kid grow from fighting Iceman (whut) to falling off buildings, getting chix, fighting his vampire-self, etc. Tael is a fine example of how growth is for me. This character's age fit his growth at the time and we watched him turn into a man. A man with horrible luck, but a man nonetheless. It's because of that rich growth in the inside that I had to pick this guy. Other than that...Dest. Yeah, because he's an angel (hur).
Sacchin (Not calling you Greed. Real talk): Aire
Another lovely OG character. Ohhh boy! Before I do a failure of an explanation, let me poorly comment about how colorful Sacchin's characters are. Perhaps because of the illustrations, but each character Sacchin has, there is literally a mental image of it (it's not like my shit where I have to think of Rosen + Ike + not Ike + ? ? ? = profit!). No, I can clearly see them. Aire of course, is no exception. This character, and I swear to Anubis, is like the poster child of our RP. We've seen her been through iterations, transformations, personality shifts, and of the like. Despite that, Aire maintains her casual, "I'm wearing blue jeans" aura. Wanna play video games? Play them with Aire. We saw her grow just like any other character. However, when I think about Sacchin's RP characters, the first thing that comes to mind is Aire. It's that, or Leera's glasses or Leera's sultry charm or Leera's mature allure...or..wait, what?
Slvr I: Suzuki
You know what pisses me off? How this character is such a damn magnet in terms of personality and design that she can make us swoon with just the crack of her flame whip. At one point, there were not many people in Return 2 Chaos RP. You know how Lost fixed that shit? All it took was Suzuki's death (IIRC) and bam! Her minions joined in for the blasphemous death of their master! I'm not immune to this either, which is why I joined too. To me, Suzuki had this allure when she debut. She had a daring personality (along with that bisexuality...ohh snap!), a lovely design (also thanks to Sacchin for that...too many), and a grandiose history with Carl. To this day, I'm still super pissed that she didn't conclude her relationship with Carl despite her deep rooted history with him. Maybe if Suzuki wouldn't use attract, Azarel wouldn't be stuck in infatuation, like the rest of us. Nevertheless though, Suzuki is one of my favorites. Oh! One more thing! She is also a lovely poster child just like Aire. You know what that means? Doujinshi Aire x Suzuki. You fucking got that right.
Lost: Enigma
The danger that lurks in the shadows. The fear you felt when your characters were threaten with this guy and his right-hand claymore maniac, Velcan. Enigma is a recipe that the RP world neglected for quite some time (and still IMO). That recipe is tension. It was this opposition that tested our characters amongst whatever the hell else they went through. Self-opposition is good and all, but the merit is only reaped when those characters and even RPers, are met with an opposing force (and also an opposing RPer!). A great example of that opposing force is none other than Enigma and Velcan. What made Enigma so dangerous is how mysterious he is. You never knew when he was going to show up, you never knew what he was going to do. All you knew was that when you heard Velcan's psychotic voice and the appearance of a figure wielding the shadows, you were screwed. Looking back on it now, I gotta thank Lost for giving us these two. They were essential. It's a struggle that is needed for a character to truly shine no matter what end they meet. I think Lost was doing charity work when he used these two.
Cheese: Narcis
Yeah, that's right. It's not Jackson. It's not the zany and ridiculous Zane. It would've been Kyle, but my bastardization of a potential theme between him and his partner left him in shambles (still to this day, I truly regret acting so rash). It's Narcis. One of the reapers in R2C when I was internally raging over Suzuki's death. Narcis made it to my favorite character because he was so distinct at that time. A flamboyant, narcissistic, and psychotic reaper. That wasn't the only reason. This reaper did me a favor by acting as Noki's opposition at the time. With Narcis's unique ability, he was able to mimic a character's face and speech patterns (IIRC). This ability forced Noki to oppose his past on who he truly was. It was the first time that Noki faced his past self straight up. It was that opposition that made him come to a realization that he was such a horrible bastard. I really think Cheese pulled this off fairly well and I regret that R2C wasn't canon to the main Sollius story because of it. Nevertheless, Narcis was one of Cheese's highlights for me. Personality, looks, and abilities included.
Tok: Vastion
I'm sorry Tok...but I haven't had much of the time to RP with you as I liked. Vastion was chosen because of comedic purposes mainly. Please do not take offense. Anyway, Vastion stood out as my favorite because he was a punching bag. There was nothing wrong that I found with his design or his abilities, but I loved his interaction with some of the characters. I'm referencing Ethona mainly. His interaction with Nova made him lose teeth. His interaction with Kyoko...same result. The more that I think about it, the more that I liked the interaction between him and Kyoko. It was that contrast in personalities that made an interesting clash between the two. Not only that, but in that particular RP, Tokro (rper) and Vastion had to carry the burden given to them by the crystals. It was interesting to see how Vastion could grow from that to see if he could defeat his trials (like the sand demon thing. I have to admit, you were actually cool in that fight, Vastion).
I'm really starting to think that the character development I watched these characters go through is what makes me choose them more than anything. Design choices are cool and all, but you need the HEART!

FEAR NOT FOR YOUR BASED GOD IS HERE Disclaimers and Shit: These are ordered in terms of likeability, from my least favorite to most favorite. I'm ranking my feelings of the characters, not you guys as people, so don't correlate a lower character rating with a lower liking of you. Also, this is off the cuff. Serk has informed me that Sougenmou currently has some great characters and is showing some real development from y'all as writers (Grant in particular has been singled out), but because I haven't yet read that, those characters won't be calculated at this time. In addition, Tok and Advix will be unranked out of the usual suspects, as I've never really interacted with Advix, and Tok, I honestly remember fuck all about Vastion and Tokromar el Character, so it'd be unfair to rank them. That said, once I have the time to read through Sougenmou, I'll update this shit. Anyway, on to the rankings! Derry B - TetsuSeriously, how am I the first person to mention Tetsu in this thread. Now I know, he should be at the top (bottom? I'm descending to best, so he's worst. I'm confused too) of the list, but let's be real here. Where would we be without Tetsu? He was the first in-joke. Tetsu would form the basis for our own brand of humor (Remember that time he fed his kid bread in the rain?) and served as a basis for how not to write a compelling character arc. If you were there for it, you fucking remember Tetsu, don't kid yourself. Mannykins - AireAs Chaos has said, Aire is one of the essential OGs, but that's not why I'm choosing her. Also not choosing her because she's one of like three Manny characters that are distinct to me (the army blends a lot of them together, but I sure remember her, Marina and Siphon). No, I'm choosing Aire because she was doing a Zane well before Zane was even a twinkle in my eye. How many times have we seen Aire? How pliable has she been that she's still unique despite countless editions and updates? Just what is it that makes her such a lasting character? Portraits, for one. Aire is constantly fucked up and completely fucked in the various images Mannykins makes of her, all dat blood and etc. But Aire is compelling because she keeps coming back. No matter what the world state, no matter how different fucking everything may be, she keeps coming back. And she's broody and complex and a debbie downer and while she's usually an omen of bad things, she's tied to just as many good events. She's our RP herpes. So why the low ranking? Because of those inconsistencies. She's hardly unified as a character, but more identifiable as an icon. But what a hell of an icon. Serk - AzarelAnd keeping on the theme of icons, where would we be without Azarel? The man, the legend, the fucking baseline on which every subsequent RP was founded. Sure, we all look back at Azarel and go "Dear God, what the fuck went wrong?" now, but then? He was the first leader. Kon's graveyard shenanigans (YEAH I'M GOING WAY THE FUCK BACK) were repelled by a unanimous force of characters, and who then lead the group to more actual plot? MOTHER FUCKING AZAREL THAT'S WHO. Who was the one that consistently fought the continuous villain Kon? AZAREL. Whose father started shaping the world and introduced large scale problems for the RP? AZAREL. Who got so crazy broken we all cry now when looking at his bio, but at the time was the man who could save us all? MOTHER FUCKING AZAREL YOU IDIOT. Seriously though, Azarel is the defining character not just for Sollius, but our style, and not through direct influence. We now look at Azarel for the baseline of how not to do a character. AP / Stat system? A direct result of Azarel's seeming invulnerable. Limitations of abilities? His menagerie of omnipotent attacks. But he also influenced us in good ways too. Azarel was one of the first characters to have an on-going and relevant plot, and hoo-boy was it expansive. And while it got real fucking creepy at times, it made him that much more a complete character. I'd wager Azarel's continued long term actions, combined with the Kon / Noki events, is what inspired the push for any long term character plots for any character since. As a character, is Azarel that great? God no, he's a mess, and that's why he ranks low. But as a format, a basis for everything to follow since? He's indisputably the most important character that's ever been for us. Lost - JetSo y'all want to talk about Lost's ability to keep on-going stories and bastards relevant and done well long before the rest of us caught on? I agree whole-heartedly. Lost is the RPer version of Azarel. But you all are forgetting his key character that I think most of you pass over because of Velcan and Enigma's behind the scenes work or Taku's sheer badassery, which are valid points. But we're talking characters who we value, and that is without a doubt the head of Petra (or at least the head as far as we were all concerned). Jet defines the asshole character without a doubt, but its his influence that really brings him to the forefront of my mind. Petra is the foundation of general dickery from any single nation, and its technological prowess really pushed it into broken and commanding territory. If Jet showed up, other characters froze. His hand cannon was capable of wiping out anyone with the omniscient bullets (unless your name was Azarel or something), and the legion of killdroids at his disposal meant doomsday for any who would cross him. While Velcan was a devil's advocate, Jet was the devil come to town. Velcan we feared for his words. Jet we feared for his power in a way no other character has made me feel since. Slvr - Carl Makkura - Sollius EditionWhat can I say besides "THOSE CHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAINS"? Lots, really. Carl is one of two characters to my knowledge to go from the beginning to the end of Sollius (the other being Aire, but correct me if I'm wrong), and what a hell of a ride it was. Starting as just some generic reaper kid thing who formed the original trifecta of bromance (Carl x Jackson x Tael forever!), but developed far beyond that. Was Suzuki prevalent and a fucking firecracker? Yeah she was, and Carl certainly wouldn't be the same without her. Her influence on him and the RP is on the level of magnitudes. But that's exactly the thing, Suzuki was the lens through which change came to Carl. She catalyzed long term growth in what was a kid who just kind of showed up, and I thank her for that as a character and a role. But it's Carl who gets the development, Carl who evolves far beyond his meager beginnings into a hero. Carl becomes a dark knight of sorts, there guarding the world from threats on a cosmic scale, all while maintaining the humble beginnings he started with. He wasn't Carl the almighty, Carl the apocalypse, Carl the sex fie... THE CHAAAAAAAINS. But really, he was just a dude doing what he thought was right, and usually helping out a whole lot of folks more than himself. Carl is one of the most well defined characters because of the immense work put in to him, and you know what? He showed it. Chaos - KonOf course, this spot could have just as easily gone to Colt, who is the centerpiece of my favorite team up of all time. Y'all paid very little attention to them, but Colt and Kyle were the most fun I've ever had with the RP. They were a couple of dudes with some modest abilities whose detective agency wasn't out for fame or glory. They were out taking cases to make a living, but they were living as well. This wasn't a straight man / funny man routine. This was a buddy cop duo, two guys intensely loyal to each other who just wanted to get their checks and make it through to the next day. And what happens when they start fighting dudes with all sorts of nasty supernatural abilities? Nothing changes. They got their shit done and well. But of course, Colt's insanely random marriage to Aureola (srsly out of left field) eventually brought him out of obscurity from their side plot and into the main adventures without bringing the rest of the Agency with him. So while Colt moved on to bigger and better things, the side plot died a slow and minor death, to little notice. It hurt me not because it ended, but because Chaos, who was so good at consistent characters, slipped up in an irreversible way. Had that slip up never happened, I would have said fuck Kon altogether in this spot, but Colt changed in a way that ruined his character for me. So I'm going to backtrack here for a moment. I can't discuss favorite characters nor iconic ones without bringing up THE OG villain. In a world filled with ever increasing broken abilities and erratic focuses, Kon was a man with a fucking mission. He was going to get that Panacea, god damn it! And he succeeded, and then perished. You know who else accomplishes their goal and then dies? Darth Vader. Scar (the Lion, not that Ishvalen pussy). Other badass villain. Kon literally spent his life accomplishing his goal, and is one of a select few characters to see their development through. And yet his development didn't stop. Noki kept the streak alive, adding moral complexity to what was the first true villain to grace our RPs. So why is it Kon that takes this spot? If you don't know, you didn't live it. Kon's intentions were clear, and he never wavered. If he descended, you knew shit was happening, and it was going to be so well written and described because Chaos is god damned thorough. Kon is, to this day, the most memorable villain to ever grace us, and you're a dirty fucking liar if you think or say otherwise. Hisui - Mongrol TsukiYou all don't even know. Don't even front. This is, without a doubt, not only my favorite character from any of us, but is also the BEST character any of us has ever done. You want a balanced character that still kicked some major ass? Done. Want a character who held immense responsibility and never faltered in his duties? Done. You want the most morally rich and complex character this RPer has ever seen? MOTHER FUCKING DONE. For those of you who missed the immensely great Mongrols idea (ie, pretty much anyone who wasn't me or Lost), Hisui conceived a collection of savage clans, each defined by a unique deformity / ideaology who were all united as social outcasts. While numerous clans openly feuded and hated each other, they all worked together because they only had each other. Each clan (of what I recall being a total of 8) had a representative, defined by their clan's own rules. Some were the most powerful. Others wise. But Tsuki was unique, because his clan was the odd group out. Their clan, focused on the moon, was shy and peaceful. Could they fight? Sure, but they were easily the weakest. Hell, they even adopted a human child because they didn't want it suffering. And that human was Tsuki, who became leader through compassion. See, in a group of fighters and savage thinkers, Tsuki kept his clan alive through care. And they had more respect than several other clans because Tsuki brought knowledge and power himself. He was no slouch, mind you, Tsuki could kick ass when need be. And it was necessary. He had to flex his muscles to stop his clan from being run over. Which created moral complexity when the invasion of a Jin Kingdom base came. Tsuki didn't want to invade, fight or kill humans under any circumstances. But he did it anyway. Why? Because he had to protect his clan. It was a compassionate slaughter. Tsuki had to struggle through balancing his power and his own moral code. Some characters made moral decisions. Some were conflicted by their goals. But Tsuki fucking lived it. Every post was a consideration of how to balance the extremes of his life, and he did in a way that was believable and consistent. It was never a surprise how Tsuki acted, but his actions could still surprise. The split second decisions and the consequences that resulted weren't just great RP shit. It's great fiction. Mongrol Tsuki is the most complete character that's been done so far, bar fucking none.

I'm glad you liked him so much : D I honestly didn't think that far down when I made him, so I'll pin some of it down as getting lucky character-wise. Good things tend to happen when you stay in character. Anyway, good post bish : D It was a good read, especially how you ordered them from least favorite to most favorite.
