"You are not so fearsome..."
Name: Kuai Liang (goes by the codename Sub-Zero)
Age: Unknown
Gender: Male
Race: Human-Cryomancer Hybrid

Appearance:
Personality: Sub-Zero is respectable and honorable, especially for someone trained to be an assassin. Sub-Zero believed in the greater good; kill one man to save many. However, after the Lin Kuei crossed the line by turning their own assassins to cyborgs, Sub-Zero has adopted a more fully heroic philosophy.
Sub-Zero is well-spoken, and is quite polite to his allies, if also a bit firm. His sense of honor ensures that everyone on his team keeps their integrity intact.

Story:
He was face to face with his brother's killer. The vile revenant Scorpion fought as he should have. Like a demon.
Then it happened.
At first Kuai Liang thought it was Shao Khan's work, but the warlord seemed just as confused as everyone else by dimensional shifts. Machines designed for war poured out of the portals, causing destruction to the arena and its dwellers. What followed was a bloody skirmish between warriors of opposing worlds. Many died, and even more simply vanished. By the end of it, Sub-Zero could no longer recall where he was. Had he entered one of the portals without knowing?
His only choice was to wander. Thankfully, he was not alone. He had his friend and ally Smoke to accompany him as he traveled. Smoke revealed much to him about the inner workings of Shao Khan's tournament. The gray-armored assassin had been in contact with the thunder god, Raiden, and was working with him to prevent the capture and roboticization of Sub-zero. For all the answers he had, however, he had none regarding their current predicament.
Their travels ended when they met a robed man with green skin. He offered them answers in exchange for a chance to test their skills. They both accepted. Working together, they were not only to impressthe green man, but defeat him utterly. The challenger introduced himself as Piccolo. He explained that a crisis was occurring across several universes, perhaps even in every universe. Piccolo offered them both an opportunity to get to the bottom of it. With nowhere else to go, neither of them could refuse.
The two of them were brought to Amuzi, and each of them were given different tasks. Sub-Zero was assigned as back-up. Whenever a team got themselves in a situation with no way out, Sub-Zero was sent as aid. Smoke was given the more shady jobs. Infiltration, thievery, and the occasional assassination. His duties were similar to those he had when he was part of the Lin Kuei, but more focused. More goal-driven. This disturbed Sub-Zero deeply.
The comparisons didn't stop there. Perhaps it was due in part to paranoia, but Sub-Zero couldn't help but notice more similarities between the Lin Kuei and Amuzi's organization. Amusi certainly had ideals. Something that the Lin Kuei hadn't had in a long time. But was she honorable? Sub-Zero had his doubts.
Evidence against Amuzi's integrity continued to make itself known. There were times when Sub-Zero could tell Amuzi was withholding important information. What was worse were the times he was sent to provide support for a squadron of investigators only to be ordered to return before he could reach them. Those teams never returned.
Sub-Zero reached a point where he could no longer afford to trust Amuzi. He was grateful to her and her associates, but he could not afford to follow the orders of dishonest men and women. Not again.
Smoke was the only one Sub-Zero warned about his defection. He was the only one who he trusted with such knowledge. The two had their disagreements, and it was clear that Smoke had more trust in Amuzi that Sub-Zero did. Even so, Smoke respected his friend's decision, and vowed to keep his intentions a secret.
And so, Sub-Zero, alongside a small number of like-minded would-be defectors, began formulating a plan....
