"You... are truly a kind person, aren't you?"
Name: Valyria Wertanrin
Age: 16
Gender: Female
Race: Elf
Height: 5'7”
Weight: 126 lbs.
Alignment: Lawful Good
Class: Duelist
Appearance:
Amongst the rough, harsh rock caverns of Ferin, it’s an amazing miracle to most people that such a delicate, beautiful looking elf would ever think of working in its harsh and desolate landscape. Standing at average height with a full, long set of light brown hair running down to her waist, Valyria would look just fine amongst her own, similar looking people, but to the mostly beastkin majority at Ferin, the elf is a rather large abnormality to most with her striking features and slender, feminine frame. Perhaps the most obvious place to start with an elf, would most likely be their ears , long, tapered ears coming to a delicate point that distinguish most elves from other races such as humans. Even without the ears however, it is quite obvious that Valyria is not any sort of a human, her features being more delicate, gentle and smooth then the usual human features. Framed above her small, slight lips and nose are her eyes, forest-green with a certain sparkle to them, as if attempting to share her lively, humorous personality through her gaze. Although she looks delicate, there is a certain strength of character and determination evident in her face that keeps others from thinking the girl to be a typical delicate forest elf. Valyria, a fairly emotional person, isn't very good at hiding her feelings and thoughts, and if the elf is troubled, her forest green eyes will usually reflect her concern or trepidation Most of the time however, her eyes contain a keen, lively look to them, complimenting her seemingly endless smile and buoyant personality.
Amid the rough, tattered and rather bare, revealing clothes of the Ferin miners, who care little about what clothes they will wear due to the demanding, dirty requirement of their jobs, Valyria wears a surprisingly unpractical, yet beautiful forest green dress falling down slightly past her knees. Although it is odd that any respectable miner would wear such a thing to the dusty, unsanitary Ferin Mines, the long dress is kept in nearly perfect condition, not even a slight crease evident to the human eye, much less a dirt stain or any tattered clothing. The dress itself is a free flowing, beautiful dress of a simple forest green pattern, loose in the upper body area with long sleeves of a slightly darker green color. The dress covers her upper body and shoulders modestly, the dress neck ending slightly below her neckline and making a slight "V" shape to give her some breathing room. The dress also has a small, elegant white lace trim at the bottom of the dress, with a simple floral design pattern weaved in the lace. On her feet, Valyria adorns knee-length high leather boots, which are slightly worn from the numerous nature walks the elf embarks on randomly. As a dress is not suitable for a sword belt for her estocs, Valyria opts for a baldric, a small leather shoulder band looping across her chest and over her shoulder. Near her waist, the band has two large loops, just big enough for a sword sheath to slide through and rest comfortably. Her baldric has been hand-customized to adorn two swords, so her Rune Estoc rests above her longer Steel Estoc, the two blades hanging comfortably down slightly below her waistline for her hand to easily pull out either blade.
Personality:
Being a close friend of Sael for many years, the beastkin realizes his best friend is a truly special gift to the world, finding her optimistic, compassionate nature to be truly exceptional in the world they lived in today. While many people are often sympathetic to the plight of others, Valyria often takes her own personal spin on her version of altruism, when she feels sympathetic to another's cause, she will usually try to aid the individual in some shape or form if she finds it to be a good cause. The elf attempts to truly understand people instead of merely feel sorry for them, and will try to understand a person's reasons and motives before judging anyone. Due to her understanding nature to most people she meets, Valyria finds it difficult to comprehend the true concept of "evil" and any person associated with it, believing that truly deep down, all people have the capacity for good actions and deeds. Despite this belief, she tries her hardest not to mix this up with naivety, realizing the difference between faith in human nature, and naivety in failing to recognize the faults of it. Valyria is generally well-liked by most people she meets due to her benevolent nature, and her natural buoyancy and optimism, the energetic elf finding it easier to stay positive despite whatever situation she's in, then simply looking at the negative aspects of the situation. She's fairly talkative and humorous, enjoying the light tease or prod at her best friend Sael, or any other close friends she has. Regardless of her tendency for making jokes at random times, when a situation turns dire, Valyria usually realizes the severity of it quite quickly.
Her best friend, and the one closest to truly understanding her and vice-versa, is Sael Leras, a quiet, intense beastkin who is often silent and sullen to everyone he meets, except of course, her. Valyria finds his rather reserved personality to often balance out her active one, and not knowing that he respects her for this, she respects him in the same manner. Valyria is one of the only true people to understand the beastkin, and often shows worry and concern over him frequently. The two know each other so well, they generally have very few secrets to hide from each other, which is why it's generally such a shocking surprise to Valyria when she finds that sadly, she doesn't completely understand the beastkin like she thought. The elf thinks the two of them to be inseparable regardless, and despite putting on a facade of being Sael's guardian at times, she finds that often she relies on Sael's presence, the strong, stalwart beastkin providing a pillar for her to lean on in times of distress.
Weapon: Steel Estoc - A specially tailored blade made for Valyria in the armories of Ferin, the estoc is a long, thin and narrow sword specifically tailored for thrusting. The blade is about the standard size for an estoc, with a long blade about 1 meter length, made to give her a longer reach then short swords and smaller weapons. The blade of the estoc itself is not made for slashing, the edges being duller and made for for deflecting and parrying sword strikes then for slicing attacks. Instead, to made up for the clear advantage of losing the blade, the estoc tapers into a thin, razor-sharp blade able to pierce a greater amount of defenses. The strength of the estoc itself lies in its razor-sharp tip, easy maneuverability and lightweight blade. Before a skilled swordsmen can launch one strike, a skilled fencer can often launch two or three in response. Although the estoc has its disadvantages, Valyria prefers the more technical aspects of the weapon, noting its deadly capability to launch quick counterattacks exceedingly quickly.
Weapon Rank: D+
Weapon: Rune Estoc- An estoc with perhaps more of an ancient history then her first blade, the Rune Estoc was discovered personally by Valyria while in the mines of Ferin. The blade is similar to the shape of her Steel Estoc, but slightly narrower, the blade having a certain brownish-red tint to it when held up in the light. There is also runes painted into the blade, running down the middle until it comes to a fine, precise point at the tip of the blade. The blade itself was dulled and rusted when Valyria found it, finding a willing blacksmith to refurbish and refine the blade back to its original glory. However, its thrusting point obviously is not as sharp as it was before Valyria had found it, so her normal estoc is generally better for piercing an enemies defences. It is also slightly shorter than the length of the Steel Estoc, about 2/3 the length of the other blade to a length slightly over 2 feet. While this means the blade loses some of its reach, it is generally much lighter, and allows the blade much more maneuverability than the other weapon. The Rune Estoc is also special in that it is an unusually good medium for magic, the runes of the blade increasing her magical abilities slightly when she uses it in conjunction with her naturally apt magic abilities. As she often uses both of the swords at the same time in dual fashion, it provides her with a good balance of physical and magical attacks during a battle.
Weapon Rank: C
Armor: N/A
Rank: Ace - 16
Attributes:
Strength - 2
Agility - 5
Mana - 7 (9)*

Elemental Affinity: Nature/Poison
Elemental Control: Being an elf, Valyria naturally has an aptitude with plants and nature, however, her naturally affinity with it goes far beyond the norms, even for elves. Even as she was born, the flowers seemed to delicately wrap around her, and the trees itself almost seemed to sing beautiful harmonies... the elf can control the plants and botanic wildlife around her with ease, almost as if she was a child of nature itself. In a forest or any area with an abundance of wildlife, Valyria is at her best, as her nature control is second to none. The elf is also fairly adept at controlling most types of poison, as she can identify many of them through her wide knowledge of wildlife and specific poisonous plants. As such, she can "cure" most inflicted victims of poison by either creating an antidote with her knowledge of herbs, or if the poison is basic enough, simply use her basic control over poison to expel it from the body. She cannot control most complex poisons, however, she can use her basic control over it to aid her in battle, whether coating her weapons in a certain poison, or combining it with her mana for some interesting effects.
Attacks
Crush Punch: While her physical strength is generally not much to note over, Valyria has a natural aptitude for magical abilities that is boosted by her elven nature. While a nice, pointy tip from her estocs can leave enemies in critical condition just fine, Valyria finds that often, many enemies are resistant to a good, solid blade, such as heavily armored opponents, and so, a burst of magical energy powerful enough to punch through an enemies armor is quite adequate. Skilled in the art of manipulating her mana in any shape or size that she wishes, her Rune Estoc provides for a good medium for which to transmit her mana into, and so Valyria can use this to devastating effect when she is in need of a punishing close quarters attack. Thrusting straight forward with her Rune Estoc while building up a steady surplus of mana in her blade. If she makes contact with an enemy, hitting them with the tip of her blade, she can suddenly send out this built up force in a sudden blast, creating a outer burst of blue energy to disperse from the tip of the estoc. The mana burst goes inward before dissipating, similar to a sword point, so while it generally doesn't cover too much in surface area (slightly smaller than the size of her fist), the shape of the blast helps it pierce through an enemies defenses much more easily. The impact of the blast is similar to a blunt object blasting through the enemies flesh, unless of course, the enemy has sufficient defense, or good enough armor to defend against the outburst.
Sylvan Art - Stoikheion Ekriksi (Element Explosion): A follow up to the Stoikheion Flora, by releasing the energies holding the mana flower together, Valyria can cause the rose bud to bloom slowly, taking a total time of one post to bloom fully into a rose. When it finally blooms, the elemental rose suddenly recedes, shrinking back in size and diameter for an instant before violently discharging its energy in all directions and dissipating back into mana. The resulting explosion depends on the element absorbed by the flower, and the amount absorbed by the flower. While small increments won't do much, a large amount of an element would seriously increase the power and range of the blast. Any enemy caught in the range of a violent blast could be seriously, or fatally injured.
-Fire: The flower discharges a maelstrom of flames in every direction, blasting every anyone in the vicinity with scorching flames. Depending on the amount absorbed, the explosion can be either middling, or vicious.
-Water: The flower discharges a torrent of water in every direction, slamming anyone in the vicinity in random directions with impunity. Depending on the amount absorbed, the explosion can be either middling, or vicious.
-Air: The flower discharges an enormous gale in every direction, throwing enemies and any objects astray with little care as to the location. Depending on the amount absorbed, the explosion can be either middling, or vicious.
-Earth: The flower discharges a large amount of stones and dirt in every direction, injuring anyone in the vicinity of the rock shower who happens to be hit by a stray stone. Depending on the amount absorbed, the explosion can be either middling, or vicious.
Abilities
Sylvan Art - Althea Flora (Healer Flower): Despite being a capable fencer and close range combatant, Valyria's true strengths lie in her ridiculously well-honed magical acuity, to the point to where she can create different shapes and forms easily with her control of magic and mana. However, her preferred form of her unique ability is to be expected of the nature-loving elf, in flowers and plants. Valyria can shape her mana in a small, compact form, creating a tiny, green glowing "seed" made of her mana. It is not literally an actual seed of course, but it serves the same function, every one of her "seeds" contains a special structure to it that Valyria creates before she makes the seeds, which can be planted if there is any dirt or soil to place the seed in. Although this limits her ability to plant her mana seeds in buildings and cities, any instance of soil near the seed actually supplements it, as the mana seed draws energy from the nutrients in any surrounding soil. Thus, in any place with well-fertilized soil, or soil rich in nutrients, her plants will obviously flourish much more then in regular, or poor soil. Althea Flora is a particular mana flower created for the sole purpose of treating wounds, as when the mana seed is planted into the ground, it soon sprouts almost instantly, creating green, miniature and translucent vines where the seed was planted. Valyria can control these small vines to any area wounded or injured, where they creep their way up onto the injury, where they proceed to quickly group up to it and attempt to "heal" the injury by stitching together the wounds. Depending on the soil the Althea Flora is in, the stitching process may be even faster, at good, fertile soil the vines can patch together wounds in seconds. While the Althea Flora isn't useful for large, gaping wounds, it can stop major blood loss and prevent a person from bleeding out quickly.
Sylvan Art - Stoikheion Flora (Element Flower): The Stoikheion Flora is an interesting mana flower created by Valyria, created through the same process as the Althea Flora. Instead of vines sprouting from the place where she plants the seed, the mana seed will slowly sprout into a green, softly glowing, translucent rose bud, not yet bloomed into a real flower. The flower bud is reasonably large, about a meter long in diameter and depth, thus it takes somewhat longer to create then the Althea Flora. The energy in the flower is attuned to the four natural elements (fire, water, air and earth) and feeds on them instead of the nutrients in the soil. If any of the four elements are in a meter distance of the flower, it will absorb and assimilate them, the energy plant taking the affinity of whatever element it absorbs. Thus, if a flame attack is absorbed near it, the mana plant will be engulfed in flames, seemingly made out of the element, which is likewise to all the other elements absorbed. While it has no offensive ability, the plant can be used for defensive purposes, as well as other abilities. This plant takes a reasonably large amount of mana to create through the seed however, and so even for her advanced ability to manipulate magic, Valyria can be convincingly taxed within one use of it.
-Fire: The flower bud is engulfed in red hot flames, absorbing nearby flames while providing a deterrent for most foes.
-Water: The flower bud is engulfed in water, shifting and swaying gently while absorbing nearby water.
-Air: The flower turns transparent, turning into a gyrating, spinning mass of air moving violently. It provides a deterrent for projectiles, as the intense gales surrounding the flower bud deflect most small ranged attacks.
-Earth: The flower is slowly engulfed in rocks and grainy minerals once an earth attack is absorbed, providing a solid shield to most attacks.
Racial Abilities
Nature's Tongue - Elves have the unique innate ability to control plant life at will, including growing, killing, and controlling it completely.
Mana Boost* - Elves receive an automatic 1.25x boost in their mana upon creation. This ability scales elven characters receive more AP.
Weakness: Valyria can attack and defend herself in a variety of ways, little of which would be possible without mana. Once she overuses her natural gifts, her low stamina and physical strength might be the end for her.
