Name: Meg Rainman
Gender: Female
Game: The Ring: Terror's Realm
Version: Mid-Game
Description:
"Power...glory...it's all stupid."
-Meg waxing philosophic about the defeat of her boss, who turned into a demon
Meg Rainman hails from The Ring: Terror's Realm, as its sole protagonist. After witnessing the death of her husband, Robert, who died at the exposure of the [RING] program generated from Sadako Yamamura's virus, Meg takes his stead in his office the following day. Meg quickly discovers the floppy disc containing the [RING] program and finds herself in a virtual reality realm, crawling with demonic creatures generated all seemingly from Sadako's virus. Meg spends the remainder of her time in the office to uncover the origins of this program while keeping cover at her new job.
Meg is a demure, overly apologetic woman with an almost nauseating sense of optimism. She seems to get over her husband's death the next day by taking over his job, justifying that there's "no use in moping around forever." Upon her first exposure to being inside the [RING] realm and donning a new attire altogether, she seems completely unaffected by the ordeal and instead proceeds to investigate. Little seems to phase this woman's emotions other than the compulsive need to apologize to anyone and anything that she believes she causes a grievance to for the death of her husband.
One day after a few travels through the [RING] realm, Meg searches through her husband's file cabinet to discover a gray floppy disc; this time, the disc is unrelated to the [RING] program altogether, or so it seems, clipped to a confidential document. The floppy disc merely read "_01" on it, otherwise bearing no sign of any other potential content. Bearing a stoic curiosity, Meg inserted this floppy disc into the laptop later that night, and found herself in an alternate dimension completely separate from that of the [RING] realm, but found that she was in her normal work clothing, and could change into the armor from the [RING] realm at will.
With a Glock pistol in hand, Meg travels this alternate dimension, attempting to determine just how real - or not- this land really is before going back to work.
Stats:
Attack: C
Magic: D
Tech: B-
Speed: C-
Defense: D+
Abilities:
Start Screen: A mysterious ability seemingly connected to her exposure to the [RING] program. By mere force of will, Meg seems to be able to halt the passage of time to access a subconscious menu screen that houses her inventory and current health status. Within this screen, Meg is allowed to access any of her inventory, including consumables and ammunition. Should Meg ever run out of bullets, she can access the start screen and reload her firearm in a mere matter of nanoseconds. If she finds that her wounds are troubling her, this menu screen also indicates her current health, usually signified by a keyword such as "Good" or "Normal." Meg can even heal wounds through this menu by accessing any Healing Jelly she has on her person. As soon as Meg closes the menu screen, time continues to pass, however, so this must be used strategically such that she doesn't waste her time or anyone else's.
[RING] Armor: The special floppy disc that Meg accessed did not automatically grant her the armor she was forced to wear when she entered the [RING] program. On the flip side, she seems capable of summoning this armor at will, allowing her to navigate her surroundings more effectively. The armor appears to be a skin-fitting body suit with armored padding along the joints and large visored sunglasses protecting her eyesight. The heavy eyewear seems to limit her perception by only being able to see fifteen feet in front of her, but the resulting ocular protection allows Meg immunity from any outside forces that require eye contact, let alone sunrays. The rest of the armor bolsters her Defense by a full rank while allowing her to move around even more flexibly than before, without the burden of her high heels limiting her mobility. The armor seems to be equipped on anybody who accesses the [RING] program, which leads Meg to question what the origins of this world really are.
