Name:Emil Gevaudan Age: 35 Race: Human Class: Tracker Appearance: Worn and haunted by his past, Emil Gevaudan appears to be much older than his thirty-five years of life would seem to suggest. Hair that was once a rich, thick, raven black has dulled, with swaths of gray sweeping through the swept back mess. Wrinkles and pocks mar his face, worsened by the near constant exposure to the elements that Emil subjects himself to, the arid winds of the world seemingly carving their way into his pale, worn skin. Emil's broad nose seems to have gotten the worst of it, while the massive bags and crow's feet surrounding his sunken, faded-golden eyes only worsen its appearance. Fortunately, most of the weariness of his eyes are covered by a pair of brass goggles which seem to adorn Emil's eyes at all times. Spanning ear to ear, the visor is shaped to Emil's face, allowing it to be easily raised to his forehead when he needs to see with his own two eyes, and is held to Emil's head by a leather strap stretched around the back of his head. Similar in appearance to snow goggles, the brass plate having a singular slit, millimeters wide, stretching across its length. Small ear plugs can often be found in Emil's ears, though a small cord connects them to the goggles on each side, allowing them to hang freely when removed.
Though he has broad shoulders, his infirm posture and barely six-foot frame seem to give Emil the appearance of a more timid man than he actually is. Perhaps not helping this is Emil's frock, an all-purpose, black cotton coat which extends down towards his knees. Six dark and worn silver buttons adorn the coat, three on each side, while the long, thick collar lays flat. In warmer weather, Emil removes the frock, revealing a thin leather breastplate resting on a silver tee, as well as revealing his substantial musculature. The breastplate shows signs of years of wear, with various slashes and bite marks adorning its surface. A pair of forest green slacks creep out from under the coat, and slide themselves into a pair of black, light leather boots. All of Emil's clothing has the same worn, rugged and sun-burned look as the man himself, a testament to the physicality and immense amounts of time spent in the wild.
Physique: Emil's body is a machine past its prime, but maintained to work at its maximum efficiency. Emil often drowns himself in the repetitive and meditative nature of his exercise regimen, resulting in a level of fitness not often found in men his age. Though by no means "ripped", Emil's musculature is evident and toned. Though known for his swiftness, Emil is capable of holding his ground physically should the situation call for it. Emil moves with a full stride, though it carries the burden of Emil's draining past, slouched and slightly cautious.
Personality: As ragged as his clothing and as worn as his boots, Emil has seen enough for several lifetimes, despite living only half of an average one. Once cursed, Emil faced years of persecution for a condition he never wanted, and the stress of years spent on the run, struggling for survival, have jaded Emil's outlook on the world. Not towards people, but towards a general sense of fairness in the world at large. Bad things happen to good people, and good things happen to no one. There's a deeply rooted cynicism buried in Emil, and one with roots which can't be plucked out easily. It also doesn't really help that the remnants of the curse have left Emil unable to really be in contact with society at large, as the heightened volatility of his senses makes urban life a near impossibility. That said, Emil still enjoys company when possible, a remnant of his old pack mentality, and as such, Emil will support and enjoy his allies, though they are often few and far between.
Weapon: Trench Knives A pair of matching steel trench knives. Each knife has a 7 inch double-edged dagger blade, with the once glowing steel faded and covered in dirt from years of use. The handles are a cast iron, chemically turned black, with built-in knuckle-dusters on each handle to add force to Emil's blows while providing a small amount of protection for his hands while wielding the knives. A small spike tops each of the four knuckles on each knife, as well as one resting on the bottom of the pommel, with each spike serving to concentrate the striking surface to increase the forces of each blunt blow. The handle has been weighted with the knuckle-dusters and heavier core, providing the blades with an excellent balance unseen in typical trench knives. Beyond their physical capabilities, the trench knives exhibit no special properties. The trench knives are stored in a holster under Emil's frock, located along the small of his back.
Element: - Abilities: Cursed Remnants ~ Sensory Elevation Emil's body is quite different from most people, though much more different now compared to the him of three years ago. Emil was once cursed with a form of Lycanthropy, and though he has since been cured of it, his body carries remnants of the condition, much to his dismay. For while most would imagine having super-human senses a blessing, Emil knows what a curse those characteristics are, especially when the body housing them isn't designed to handle the superhuman aspect. Emil's eyesight is an incredible 20/4, and is paired with a density of visual rods roughly 4 times that of a standard human. The result is an astounding visual clarity at range, and a peripheral vision exceeding both the size and clarity of a typical humans. However, as Emil's brain is no longer hard-wired to accept these phenomenon, the result is crippling farsightedness and a propensity to suffer ocular migraines, as Emil's perception of the world often overloads what his mind is willing to accept. To counteract this, Emil's goggles are designed to correct his vision, foregoing his pinpoint accuracy at distance in exchange for the ability to see objects clearly in front of him, and limit the scope of his vision to help counteract the scale of his peripheral vision.
Unfortunately, this is the only one of Emil's senses that can be contained practically. Emil's sense of hearing enables him to hear a pin drop a hundred feet away, but also enables him to clearly hear each noise between that pin and himself, such that a busy metropolis will often cripple Emil simply from sensory overload. And while this sense can be contained by his ear plugs, the trade off to not hearing everything is to hear nothing, leaving Emil functionally deaf unless he actively chooses to hear. Emil's sense of smell is highly precise, able to distinguish the unique scent of anyone within a forty foot radius, and enables him to track individuals based on scent provided they were within the area less than an hour before. This however also leaves Emil vulnerable to sensory overload, as pungent scents are nausea inducing for Emil, even in minute concentrations. Likewise, Emil's sense of taste is hyper-sensitive, leaving him with a taste only for the blandest of foods, as anything too powerful in any sense will be amplified to horrific levels.
Mute Motion: (Shoutouts to Serk for this ability, which was created for his Mihkel remake, and kind of spawned the start of what I've planned with Emil) Emil has essentially mastered his own movement. He doesn't look into the semantics of kinematic motion by any means, but for what amount of stealth he has attempted, he has developed a pattern in his movement. Emil eventually found a way to soften the impact between his feet and the ground while running at maximum velocity, minimizing the amount of noise he makes. Should he sacrifice a bit of speed, Emil can allow himself to make absolutely no noise whatsoever. Coupled with his black overcoat, Emil has become a very difficult entity to detect, even at his fastest; with some experimentation of the surroundings, Emil could easily play with the opponent's senses and make short work of an unaware foe through stealth.
